BEST AUDIO DRAMA OUT THERE!!
- By Luke Sitewalkr on 05-01-23
great story, but....
Reviewed: 04-10-22
I am really enjoying to story, the acting etc. but wow... so many commercials!
I wish I'd known in advance that as short as EVERY EPISODE already is, it is 50% commercials before, during and after... soooo if you like hearing the same commercials x3 every episode. yea, go ahead and try to binge.
they say you can listen commercial free on another platform for a fee.
I'm already paying a fee for this and another platform... for a 10 to 15 minute episode, x only 8 episodes... naw. forget it.

Story
Before she was a trauma cleaner, Sandra Pankhurst was many things: husband and father, drag queen, gender reassignment patient, sex worker, small businesswoman, trophy wife... but as a little boy, raised in violence and excluded from the family home, she just wanted to belong. Now she believes her clients deserve no less. A man who bled quietly to death in his living room. Sarah Krasnostein has watched the extraordinary Sandra Pankhurst bring order and care to these, the living and the dead - and the book she has written is equally extraordinary.

sure, I'm only on the second chapter, but it starts on a cave in Spain after a brief mention that she had first explored 11 caves in France... she's giving details on this cave but have us NOTHINH of the French finds.
I've been in a prehistoric cave in France and was hoping she'd give it at least a call out, maybe mention the caves, what or how much she found in each... but no. skip to a muddy cave in Spain. pfft.

It's only a book... and yet, it is a magical weaving of words. The story revealed slowly, unfolding itself as you watch, mesmerized by the cadence of voice. It lulls me toward sleep while I desperately want to hear more....
and now that I'm done... it was simple and complicated and just lovely. wonderful.

Story
By March 4, 1865, the Civil War had slaughtered more than 700,000 Americans. After a morning of rain-drenched fury, tens of thousands crowded Washington’s Capitol grounds that day to see Abraham Lincoln take the oath for a second term. As the sun emerged, Lincoln rose to give perhaps the greatest inaugural address in American history, stunning the nation by arguing, in a brief 701 words, that both sides had been wrong, and that the war’s unimaginable horrors - every drop of blood spilled - might well have been God’s just verdict on the national sin of slavery.
