Story
A girl's gotta eat—and so do her three cats. Recently divorced art history grad student Hanna Harvey has just fibbed her way into a job as the assistant to dangerously drool-worthy art gallery owner Mark Abernathy. For Hanna, working in the field she desperately loves provides the perfect opportunity to begin putting her life back together. Soon her cheese budget is in the black and her feline life partners are no longer eyeing her like a can of Fancy Feast. But when her boss's lady friends start turning up dead, Hanna finds herself in the crosshairs of a murder investigation.

Story
All Dahlia wanted was her freedom. But first, she needed to buy out of her promised bonding - a promise that was made for her before she was even born. Almost a century of trying had taken its toll, and she did some things she isn’t proud of. She lost parts of herself along the way and flirted with the darkness inside her...and it flirted back. Everything in her life systematically blew up in her face one piece at a time. Blaming it all on the beautiful, egotistical vampire who showed up in her life would be easy, but it started long before he arrived.

Loved this book. Overall, the book is very well written (minus a few things, e.g., predictable plot in certain situations). If you read a lot of fantasy/paranormal books, you'll know what I mean.
Narration was great, in my opinion.
Most certainly looking forward to book 2 in any format.

Story
Once upon a time, there was a girl who dressed up and went to a big party at the palace. When she was there, she met a prince. They danced and fell in love. Damn good line. Too bad I don’t believe a word of it anymore. My name is Claire Montgomery, and I’m not a princess. I’m a fighter. I worked hard to earn my place on the emergency image repair team for one of the biggest public relations companies in the country. We’ve been called to the renowned Chicago headquarters of Stone Global Corporation, where it’s our job to clean up a heap of the Stone family’s filthiest laundry.

I was surprised with how well this book is written.
The narration is great, albeit it took a bit to get used to female whispery voice.
The story is good for a HEA book as well, although a bit more action could benefit.
Will definitely continue the series.

Boring at first but then getting better
Reviewed: 12-14-22
Stina's performance is great per usual.
As for the book itself, at first, I was quite skeptical. Started off like a retelling of From Blood and Ash by JLA, the names similar to those in SJM books and JLA. It was very slow up until the middle of the book. Then, the plot has finally started getting more interesting. by the end of the book, it got much better. I wouldn't give it 5 stars but will definitely continue the series.

overall good but not as captivating

Narration is great in this audiobook - both Stina's and Tim's. Dragged "eather" was noticable but not too bad.
Overall the book is good, not great though. I had higher expectations for this one, to be honest. There were a few moments that were repetitive and annoying.
In my opinion, JLA should've ended the series with this book. But looks like there will be a complete crossover with A Shadow in the Ember and, possibly, the two series merging into one.

It was supposed to be a quick mission. The only thing quick about it was how rapidly I failed. With only a month left to earn her missing feathers, twenty-year-old Leigh embarks on a trip to Paris to meet her newest project, twenty-five-year-old Jarod Adler, leader of the Parisian Mafia and the worst kind of sinner . . . a Triple. If Leigh can get Jarod to accomplish a single act of kindness, she stands to win 100 feathers, more than enough to complete her wings and ascend to Elysium, the land of angels.
