Story
It’s hard to find an employer who doesn’t ask too many questions about my past. So I thank my lucky stars that the Garricks miraculously give me a job, cleaning their stunning penthouse with views across the city and preparing fancy meals in their shiny kitchen. I can work here for a while, stay quiet until I get what I want.

Story
God is change. That is the central truth of the Earthseed movement, whose unlikely prophet is 18-year-old Lauren Olamina. The young woman's diary entries tell the story of her life amid a violent 21st-century hell of walled neighborhoods and drug-crazed pyromaniacs - and reveal her evolving Earthseed philosophy. Against a backdrop of horror emerges a message of hope: if we are willing to embrace divine change, we will survive to fulfill our destiny among the stars.

This was another crazy King adventure full of horror, love and lessons! It's as if the movie does not matter anymore. As much as I loved the movie and I had read the books a bit before...this is so much better. I laughed, I cried, I learned, I was held captive and fell in love with a gentle giant! The Narrator was top notch in all the ways that mattered. As a Constant Reader, I've also become a Constant Listener!

Story
Jack Torrance's new job at the Overlook Hotel is the perfect chance for a fresh start. As the off-season caretaker at the atmospheric old hotel, he'll have plenty of time to spend reconnecting with his family and working on his writing. But as the harsh winter weather sets in, the idyllic location feels ever more remote...and more sinister. And the only one to notice the strange and terrible forces gathering around the Overlook is Danny Torrance, a uniquely gifted five-year-old.

What a beautiful thing it is to read a book as an adolescent, watch the crappy movie adaptation and then listen to the fabulous audible book 4O years later! This book is one my all-time favorite King stories and Campbell Scott did not disappoint! It just comes to life, like the Overlook and all it's spookiness shines!!!

Story
Viv's career with the notorious mercenary company Rackam's Ravens isn't going as planned. Wounded during the hunt for a powerful necromancer, she's packed off against her will to recuperate in the sleepy beach town of Murk—so far from the action that she worries she'll never be able to return to it. What's a thwarted soldier of fortune to do? Spending her hours at a beleaguered bookshop in the company of its foul-mouthed proprietor is the last thing Viv would have predicted, but it may be both exactly what she needs and the seed of changes she couldn't possibly imagine.

Another beautiful, funny, fantastic journey! I didn't want it to end. I feel like we could all learn how to enjoy our own story after the story through the characters in these books. Great imagination and perfect narration make them decadent. There are so many great things to say, but maybe just read it or listen to it yourself and decide on your own.

Story
Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv, the orc barbarian, cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen. However, her dreams of a fresh start filling mugs instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners, and a different kind of resolve.

A Must Read/Listen Classic

I've actually read this book multiple times but this is the first time that I listened to it narrated. Tim Robbins does such a phenomenal job of bringing this book to life. I can't say enough good things about it! What an incredible experience. It's going to be hard to follow it up with anything else. The book itself is important, a timeless script of the human condition. Profound, prescient and painful. No matter how many times I experience this book, I cry at the end. Bravo to Ray Bradbury for his talented writing and bravo to Tim Robbins for burning through the pages and capturing our attention!

George Orwell depicts a gray, totalitarian world dominated by Big Brother and its vast network of agents, including the Thought Police - a world in which news is manufactured according to the authorities' will and people live tepid lives by rote. Winston Smith, a hero with no heroic qualities, longs only for truth and decency. But living in a social system in which privacy does not exist and where those with unorthodox ideas are brainwashed or put to death, he knows there is no hope for him.

One important book
Reviewed: 08-12-22
After being forced to read this decades ago in a literature class and hating it to the point of using Cliff notes alternatively, I'm sad to have robbed myself of the experience. But I made up for it in sweat and tears, all brought forth by it relevance with today's societal and political events. So beautiful and painful in it's descriptions, it's paranoia is unmatched for it's time. But sometimes you come across a read that is so honest and compelling, you would rather skip meals and sleep just to get more. So I would say not only is this book a must, but given the chance it will stir things up in and unimaginable way....so let it!
