Story
In this bold and radical audiobook, award-winning science journalist Angela Saini goes in search of the true roots of gendered oppression, uncovering a complex history of how male domination became embedded in societies and spread across the globe from prehistory into the present. Travelling to the world’s earliest known human settlements, analysing the latest research findings in science and archaeology, and tracing cultural and political histories from the Americas to Asia, she overturns simplistic universal theories to show that what patriarchy is and how far it goes back.

Good and not so good
Reviewed: 02-20-24
The book is not really talking about origins of patriarchy, in return in the first half it talks about exceptions of powerful women in history despite patriarchy.
She mentions Gerda Lerner’s book a couple of times, but I can’t help disagreeing with her interpretation of the text she uses.
On the other hand, the writer gives a very good overview of different political systems and their influences on women rights and movements. Another positive point of the book is that it covers the most recent movements of Iranian women relatively widely.

Story
A major new work by a leading historian and pioneer in women's studies, The Creation of Patriarchy is a radical reconceptualization of Western civilization that makes gender central to its analysis. Gerda Lerner argues that male dominance over women is not "natural" or biological, but the product of an historical development begun in the second millennium BC in the Ancient Near East. As patriarchy as a system of organizing society was established historically, she contends, it can also be ended by the historical process.

Story
Neuroscience research is producing an almost constant stream of new discoveries that are unlocking the secrets of how our brains work. For those of us directly involved in this research of the human brain, it is a very exciting time. However, very few people outside of the neuroscience community understand these discoveries well enough to take advantage of them or apply them to their own lives in a way that gets meaningful results

Too short articles with what to do and what not to do.
Personally I enjoy reading about the phenomenon and the science itself and then I create my own behaviors based on that. So this book was not something I would enjoy as the focus was on the methods which was described in haste.
I didn’t enjoy listening either. Not my favorite tone and sound. Seemed to me I was listening to a long advertisement.

Too unrealistic story without any real life challenges
Reviewed: 02-24-23
The story is too unrealistic. And it goes on without any actual challenges.
Even if the writer has tried to bring in some scenes to make it “exciting “ there is absolutely no excitement in it.
Not sure if I will listen to next ones.

Loved the book.
The text is appealing and fun to follow.
The book brings into view an amazing connection between our gender bias in viewing technology, nature which has lead us to the lifestyle we have chosen and the economy we have built around it. And how all of that will result into majority of us potentially becoming useless mass in future!!
And having said all that, the book talks of course about the possible solution ahead of us.
