there are some points where the author stretches reason a little, but the story was clean with very little swearing and you dont have to listen to people's intimate moments. the book is not heavy but it is interesting and character development was good. a lot of books are ruined by crummy endings. this book has a good ending and wont leave you feeling heavy or confused. this book leaves you feeling good. there are fun ideas and concepts to contemplate when you are done listening. it was enjoyable.

when Mel talks about adult language she means the type of thing you hear on a grade school playground. I found her excesivly foul mouthed as if she were trying to be macho. her counseling premise that sets fear as a basis may be true in her life but limits her as an effective counciler. Her bullying of clients will work somtimes but she will do much harm to people unless she learns and develops some fundamental counciling skills. She is confident but incompetant and fits right in with what they are teaching young women today. too bad.

Good to hear the honesty unapologetically stated. Most of us know these truths although often we can't verbalize them. much of the misery in the world is from people trying to make their personal fantasy a reality by convincing or mandating others to accept or endorse the corruption they desire. That is not honest no matter what or who states otherwise. Truth is truth.

talented writer but soooo negative. the narrator has talent too but his slow delivery and the constant downer made the book drag. I sped it up but this is the first book in years that I was just unwilling to endure to the end. The toxicity of the people left a feeling of heaviness that lingered. It was also too base and vulgar to enjoy. Fanasy and creative ideas intrigue but the authors talent is buried in negativity leaving the book onerous. The narrator is goood with voices but his frequency of pausing and slow speach coupled with the manner in which he seemed to relish the foul language and subjects was difficult to endure.

Story
After decades of research, world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol S. Dweck discovered a simple but groundbreaking idea: the power of mindset. In this brilliant book, she describes how success in school, work, sports, the arts, and almost every area of human endeavor can be dramatically influenced by how we think about our talents and abilities. In this edition, Dweck offers new insights into her now famous and broadly embraced concept. She introduces a phenomenon she calls false growth mindset and guides people toward adopting a deeper, truer growth mindset.

I found the concepts interesting. looking at the mindsets around me i have greater understanding after this book. She is too hard on some really great people and way to soft on others. In my experience there are some growth mindset people who are absolute airheads that love a challenge and fixed mindset people that are the ones who get things done. I am going to cultivate a better growth mindset for me and my company after reading this but I know better than to trust all growth mindset people, too many just don't feel failure deep enough to not repeat it. Especially when it is on your dime.
