Ok Boomer - The audiobook
Reviewed: 09-06-20
There's no real story here. This audiobook is just a reading of alt-right Facebook memes. Even if you do love the idea of a book feeding the fantasy of every liberal as a hypermicrogressioned soyboy, I still think the voices are grating enough to give it a pass.

I loved this book, although at times I wish I never read it. The eye opening looking at makers of generic drugs and those that regulate them will have you look at medications you take in a different light.

Story
Most children go through a dinosaur phase. Learning all the tongue-twisting names, picking favourites based on ferocity, armour, or sheer size. For many kids this love of ‘terrible lizards’ fizzles out at some point between starting and leaving primary school. All those fancy names slowly forgotten, no longer any need for a favourite. For all those child dino fanatics who didn’t grow up to become paleontologists, dinosaurs seem like something out of mythology. They are dragons, pictures in books, abstract, other, extinct.

Loved this book. I loved hearing about Dinosaurs in their many aspects. This book is also perfectly suited to the audiobook format using many different experts to contribute. Highly recommend.

Story
From the very beginning, life on Earth has been defined by war. Today, those first wars continue to be fought around and literally inside us, influencing our individual behavior and that of civilization as a whole. War between populations - whether between different species or between rival groups of humans - is seen as an inevitable part of the evolutionary process. The popular concept of "the survival of the fittest" explains and often excuses these actions.

A multifaceted trip through the meaning of life

I bought the book as a fan of Bad Religion and Greg's previous book. As someone accusotom to Greg's voice as lead singer, not having him read his book was a bit distracting. This book also weaves an autobiographical thread into the story which feels odd as the narrator is in first person. Overall the book is an interesting listen for a broader perspective on life as we know it and how we fit into it.
