I liked the way the mystery progressed. Of course the characters were as funny as usual & makes for a good break. The surprise ending was really two surprises in a row! I like when there’s still something I haven’t figured out yet! Looking forward to the follow up…

Georgie, back home at her estate in Eynsleigh, impatiently awaits the birth of her baby. But she has plenty to occupy her: Her new chef, Pierre, has arrived from Paris, and Sir Hubert, who owns Eynsleigh, is back from his latest expedition. It's time for Georgie to throw her first house party to celebrate his return and show off her new chef. The dinner party is a smashing success. Sir Mortimer Mordred—famous author of creepy Gothic horror novels—is one of the guests. He recently purchased a nearby Elizabethan manor nearby because it has a famous poison garden.

Great mystery!

This was another good story by Rhys Bowen! After so many books, authors usually start to sound the same. However, this story was not only fun, but new & interesting! Great mystery & she kept us guessing to the end. Although I had my suspicions, I like Georgie, couldn’t get past the obvious. The surprise ending filled in the details! Can’t wait for the next book!!!

Story
An activist attorney is killed in a cute little L.A. trolley called Angels Flight, far from Harry Bosch's Hollywood turf. But the case is so explosive - and the dead man's enemies inside the L.A.P.D. are so numerous - that it falls to Harry to solve it. Now the streets are superheating. Harry's year-old Vegas marriage is unraveling. And the hunt for a killer is leading Harry to another high-profile L.A. murder case, one where every cop had a motive. The question is, did any have the guts?

Where’s Dick Hill???
Reviewed: 10-01-23
Although this is a great story & the narrator was pretty good…Dick Hill had really been the voice of Harry Bosch!!! He always did an outstanding job with all the characters! I have to think of this book as another series…not really Harry, but another policeman in an alternate series! Just not the same!

Good story, but Fast narration
Reviewed: 07-03-23
The only thing that I didn’t like, was the narrators fast speed!! He did a good job with most of the voices, however, he spoke so fast that it was hard to follow. I understand that the Irish do speak fast, but it would have been more enjoyable if he could have relaxed a little!!!

Too much VooDoo & Satanic stuff! And unrealistic that almost every guy was gay! If that wasn’t bad enough, the narrator made everyone sound the same. Women & men alike had high voices & it was hard to listen to! Although she had good energy, her explanations & reactions made me cringe. If I could have gone without knowing the killer, I would have dumped the book in the 2nd chapter! Next time I will!!

Story
What a delight it is to finally be able to enjoy a simple meal again! I have been in the throes of morning sickness for the last few months as Darcy and I prepare to welcome a brand-new addition to our little family. Now that I am feeling better, I have realized I am dreadfully bored! It seems that all my nearest and dearest are off leading their own busy lives while I sit at home and attempt to train our two adorably naughty puppies. Fun as it may be, it is hard not to long for a little adventure, a change of pace, before my true confinement begins when the baby comes.

Great Plot Twist
Reviewed: 11-23-22
McTiernan has a great style & always comes up with interesting plots. This book in particular keeps you guessing on who the Murderer is going to be. I also like her characters & their personalities. Like real people, not everyone is nice nor ethical. There are characters you can dislike & root for them to get in trouble! However, I’m always happy to see Sgt. Riley do a great job, & the other Garda respect & admire him!
