Story
A pact is sealed in secret behind the foreboding walls of Newgate Prison. In return for one night of unparalleled pleasure, a dashing condemned criminal consents to wed a beautiful heiress, thereby rescuing her from an impending and abhorred arranged union. But in the fading echoes of hollow wedding vows, a solemn promise is broken, as a sensuous free spirit takes flight to a lush Caribbean paradise, abandoning the stranger she married to face the gallows unfulfilled.

Shanna and Ruark...at last!
Reviewed: 08-13-23
I own "Shanna" in hard copy, eBook, and now audio. Like many Kathleen Woodiwiss admirers, I've waited a long time for this production. Until getting married and starting my own family, I probably read Shanna at least once a year! I confess, the British pronunciation of "Ruark Beauchamp" took some getting used to. I would have also appreciated / preferred having male narrators voicing Ruark and other male roles, however, I was still able to appreciate this story and work that I have loved since 1977.

Story
Toni and Agatha are in the car on the way to Officer Bill Wong’s long-awaited wedding when, much to their shock, a naked young man bursts through a hedge on the side of the road and comes running toward them. Terrified, he explains that he has just seen a dead body in the woods. Toni lends him an old t-shirt to cover himself, Agatha calls the police, and the young man takes them to the spot where he saw the body, across from a meadow where the Mircester Naturist Club is due to have its annual summer barbecue.

Thanks Audible for the "Plus Catalog" and introducing subscribers to new authors, multiple genres, and countless books that expand a reader's world.

After listening to my first Hamish MacBeth mystery, I was hooked! Binged on the available 35 books and short stories in about a month. Of the three narrators, Shaun Grindell, brought a bit of fun to each performance, however, MC Beaton's wit and natural humor still comes through with each story! Confession, I did need my dictionary app a few times for some of the literary words, foods, and other Scottish terms. I love it when authors expand my world and vocabulary! :)
If you like trying to figure out "who done it" and why they did it, you should enjoy this series. I am officially an MC Beaton fan and have already started to download the Agatha Raisin series!

Story
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Dracula - a classic at its best!
Reviewed: 11-01-21
I will listen to almost any book that Simon Vance performs - he's just that good in my opinion - but I admit this cast did a wonderful job of bringing this classic story to life. This was my first time "reading" the original novel and it is truly one of the best reads I have experienced. I did not know the format of the story was written / delivered as the character's first-hand accounts as journal entries, newspaper articles, etc. (thanks to film versions). This format was as much a character of the book as the story itself and caused me to appreciate written communications and great storytelling. Thanks, Audible - keep them coming!!!!

Reviewed: 10-18-20
Simon Vance is one of my FAVORITE audio book performers, and he performed each of the characters with his usual standard and quality. That's what was good for me. The point of "The Girl who Lived Twice" story line escaped me. I've read the series many times, but I don't see myself revisiting book six.

Lin-Manuel Miranda's groundbreaking musical Hamilton is as revolutionary as its subject: the poor kid from the Caribbean who fought the British, defended the Constitution, and helped to found the United States. Fusing hip-hop, pop, R&B, and the best traditions of theater, this once-in-a-generation show broadens the sound of Broadway, reveals the storytelling power of rap, and claims our country's origins for a diverse new generation.
