If the storyline was self-pitying the accent was worse. Wish I could get a refund

Not his finest book, but a good time-filler, nonetheless. The “breathless” performance held no nuance

I do wish that, should a book require a bilingual narrator, one would be provided. It can be very grating on the ear, otherwise. However, I enjoyed the story very much, especially with the current war in Ukraine in mind.

The take is captivating. The raconteuse’s French accent is another thing, but it failed to destroy a delightful story.

The plot was predictable, with the “bad guys” being obvious from early on.
The narrator was particularly poor. His phraseology was frequently incorrect and he read both too quickly and with an annoyingly repeated intonal pattern.

Katy sobey has so little variation in her presentation that she runs the risk of making an otherwise good story monotonous.

I thoroughly enjoyed Brooks' "The Brewer's Tale", but this narration was all earnestness and no light.
