Story
As the chief forensic anthropologist for the FBI’s Chicago field office, Christine Prusik has worked her fair share of bizarre cases. Yet this one trumps them all: a serial killer is strangling young women and dumping their bodies in the steep, forested ravines of southern Indiana. With each victim, the killer leaves a calling card: a stone figurine carved like the spirit stones found among the native tribes of Papua New Guinea—the same tribes Prusik worked with a decade earlier while doing field research.

Story
An excruciatingly honest, unapologetic account of reckless alcoholism, Drinking and Driving is one young man's account of reaching rock bottom behind the wheel. Oliver Miller believes all he needs to be happy is a full tank of gas and a bottle of brand-name booze. It will take him years of false starts, shattered glass, doctors offices, dingy halfway houses, fights and slurred phone calls to anyone who'll pick up to realize that drinking and driving brings him everything but happiness.

Story
Welcome to Babylon, a typical sleepy Alabama small town, where years earlier the Larkin family suffered a terrible tragedy. Now they are about to endure another: 14-year-old Margaret Larkin will be robbed of her innocence and her life by a killer who is beyond the reach of the law. But something strange is happening in Babylon: traffic lights flash an eerie blue, a ghostly hand slithers from the drain of a kitchen sink, graves erupt from the local cemetery in an implacable march of terror.

Predictable and Boring
Reviewed: 01-29-17
I bought this book based on the glowing reviews and Stephen King's comments but I was sorely disappointed.
First off, I have to say that the narrator was amazing. I wish he'd had something better to work with, and I would listen to another story read by him, but not by the same author.
I expected a lot more from the story, especially based on the way it began. The Prologue was probably the most exciting part of the book for me.
As others mentioned, I figured out who the bad guy was right away, but kept telling myself that it couldn't be that easy, yet it was.
I didn't care for any of the characters. The only one I liked was Jerry, but his participation was minimal. I cared more about Jerry's parents than the rest of the family, especially Evelyn.
Overall the story was boring, predictable, and repetitive. I got so tired of hearing about the black water on the floor, the slapping sounds, etc.
Lastly , the ending was extremely disappointing. I thought that maybe the ending would make up for the rest of the book but it didn't.

Great Book!
Reviewed: 12-19-16
If you could sum up Mordacious in three words, what would they be?
Fun, action-packed.
What did you like best about this story?
It was a very interesting book about people, who just happen to be dealing with the end of the world and zombies. And, although the heroine has baggage, or like Maria said "her baggage has baggage," she's not whining all the time and she kicks butt. I like that she's a sarcastic, funny, smartass.
Which character – as performed by Luke Daniels and Therese Plummer – was your favorite?
Sylvie was my favorite
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. I actually want to listen to it again, which is rare for me.
Any additional comments?
It's a fun book if you like zombies & end-of-the-world stories, but it's not dark like The Road, which is an excellent book, but you have to be mentally prepared for it.

Story
Hailed by The New York Times as "a marvel of storytelling", The Things They Carried’s portrayal of the boots-on-the-ground experience of soldiers in the Vietnam War is a landmark in war writing. Now, three-time Emmy Award winner-Bryan Cranston, star of the hit TV series Breaking Bad, delivers an electrifying performance that walks the book’s hallucinatory line between reality and fiction and highlights the emotional power of the spoken word.

Tedious!
Reviewed: 12-16-16
What would have made The Things They Carried better?
An actual story. I purchased this book based on the glowing reviews and I expected a riveting story but it was terrible. I couldn't get past the 2nd chapter, and that was pushing it. I thought, "If I had to hear about Martha one more time, I am going to be sick!"
Has The Things They Carried turned you off from other books in this genre?
Definitely.
What about Bryan Cranston’s performance did you like?
I love his voice, and at times wished he would narrate it in Walter White's voice, but not even he could make me finish this book.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Frustration, tedium, anger because I wasted my time and money. I don't have much time to read, hence, the audiobooks, and I don't like to waste money.
Any additional comments?
It makes me wonder if the reviews are real...
