Story
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Chose this book because I’m a fan
Reviewed: 09-21-21
I chose this book because I’m a fan, but I enjoyed because I can relate. “Me too”, Mr McConaughey. We have less in common than I would have guessed, and yet your bumper stickers, prescriptions, and thoughts ring true. Thank you for taking time to write it; nicely done.

Story
Beyond Tim Tebow's exploits as a Heisman-winning football player, he is widely known and respected for his exemplary character and personal excellence, which have made him a role model for millions. When Tim interacts with the public, he often encounters people who feel "stuck" - unable to take action on matters ranging from daily life to pursuing lifelong dreams. In response, Tim often identifies a crippling fear or lack of courage, to which he advises: "Now is the time to take some risks, to quiet the voices of defeat, to step forward and make a mark, because this is the day."

The day I started this book I finished Capital Gaines, by Chip Gaines. Though outwardly different, the books and the men who wrote them live a life bigger than themselves. A life of service to others. A life of speaking into others. You’re right, Tim, this is the day. Thank you for sharing your journey, your faith, your heart with the rest of us.

Story
The funny and talented Chip Gaines is well known to millions of people as a TV star, renovation expert, bestselling author, husband to Joanna, and father of four in Waco, Texas. But long before the world took notice, Chip was a serial entrepreneur who was always ready for the next challenge. Whether it was buying a neighborhood laundromat or talking a bank into a loan for some equipment to start a lawn-mowing service, Chip always knew that the most important thing was to take that first step.

Candid and well done

The audio was surprising raw. Not that I would expect any less from Chip Gaines, from what I know of the man anyway. Though, admittedly, my only interaction with him to this point is watching Fixer Upper. His smile and even laughter could be heard throughout the reading. Raw emotion. Raw talent. I find his ability to identify key points in his life and how those points shaped his life, the most surprising of all. All the while, flying by the seat of his pants. His broken road seems like a jet contrail as he looks back from his vantage point today. At least in this text it does. Well done, Chip. We have a Texas trip planned next year, and I will make it a point to visit Waco, all due to your and Joanna’s story.
