Story
Thomas Sowell takes aim at a range of legal, social, racial, educational, and economic issues in this latest collection of his controversial, never boring, always thought-provoking essays. From "gun control myths" to "mealy mouth media" to "free lunch medicine," Sowell gets to the heart of the matters we all care about with his characteristically unsparing candor.

Dr Sowell is a brilliant and unique thinker. I learn so much from him. If his books were required reading in schools, our country and polity would be immensely improved.

Story
The quest for social justice is a powerful crusade of our time, with an appeal to many different people, for many different reasons. But those who use the same words do not always present the same meanings. Clarifying those meanings is the first step toward finding out what we agree on and disagree on. From there, it is largely a question of what the facts are. Social Justice Fallacies reveals how many things that are thought to be true simply cannot stand up to documented facts, which are often the opposite of what is widely believed.

Brilliance by Professor Sowell
Reviewed: 10-10-23
I’ve read a handful of Thomas Sowell’s books and they are all excellent. As always Dr Sowell enlightens with sound logic, balanced language and enlightening facts and statistics that are so often overlooked.
Dr Sowell is one of the handful of most influential thinkers who have shaped and changed my opinions over the decades. He is a national treasure and this book is another priceless contribution to the improvement of society and the needed humbling of well-meaning citizens who inevitably cause more harm than good.
Thank you Dr Sowell.

Compelling and interesting history

Professor Baum is engaging and has a pleasant voice for delivery. The older history is terrific. Sadly professor Baum passed away in 2012 and this lecture series was completed in 2010. It would be very interesting to know what a 2022 update would encompass given the continued authoritarianism and technically facilitated government oversight under President Xi. But this history is very much worth listening to.
