I think I’m just too old to enjoy a story like this. I probably would have loved it as a teenager, but it was just a little too far fetched for me.

Wow! This story is a roller coaster ride from page 1 to the end. Every time I felt like I trusted someone, they let Gwen down. The plot is as twisted and fast paced as the serial killer it centers around. Looking forward to book 2!

When i started this book, i was excited and then the story was so drastically different than the previous 4, that i really didnt like it. I was frustrated with the characters and how much they had changed and grown apart. About half way through the plot began to come together and I started to enjoy the story again. I loved the last half and was pleased with how it ended. I could read on about these women’s lives and them growing up together. What a fantastic journey and how I wish I had a group of friends that I had grown up with.

Story
Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed. Soon afterward, his death is a national headline. Some are calling him a thug, maybe even a drug dealer and a gangbanger. Protesters are taking to the streets in Khalil’s name.

This is such and important book about a very important topic. After Star witnesses her friend being killled by a cop she has to figure out how to deal, how to speak up and how to move forward. This is a time in our world, unfortunately, where this is happening all too often. I don't have the answers, but maybe more people reading this book and becoming aware will move us in the right direction.

Then Taylor’s dad gets devastating news, and her parents decide that the family will spend one last summer all together at their old lake house in the Pocono Mountains. Crammed into a place much smaller and more rustic than they are used to, they begin to get to know each other again. Sam and Clementine have a wonderful, albeit, busy life: they have two little girls, Sam has just started a new dream job, and Clementine, a cellist, is busy preparing for the audition of a lifetime. If there’s anything they can count on, it’s each other. Clementine and Erika are each other’s oldest friends. A single look between them can convey an entire conversation. But theirs is a complicated relationship, so when Erika mentions a last minute invitation to a barbecue with her neighbors, Tiffany and Vid, Clementine and Sam don’t hesitate.

Liane Moriarty is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors of all time! Her stories are compelling, twisted and satisfying! Her characters and plots never disappoint. This book had interesting and fleshed out characters and I felt for every one of them. The way the stories are woven together and the pace at which the stories pieces are revealed one by one until a full picture is formed is perfection! Loved!

Story
Magic, adventure, mystery, and romance combine in this epic debut in which a young princess must reclaim her dead mother’s throne, learn to be a ruler - and defeat the Red Queen, a powerful and malevolent sorceress determined to destroy her. On her 19th birthday, Princess Kelsea Raleigh Glynn, raised in exile, sets out on a perilous journey back to the castle of her birth to ascend her rightful throne. Plain and serious, a girl who loves books and learning, Kelsea bears little resemblance to her mother, the vain and frivolous Queen Elyssa.

This was a very entertaining and creative story about how the queen of hearts became the queen of hearts. I loved how Marissa Meyer included characters from the original Alice in Wonderland and wove a fanciful and magical story line that linked to two. The characters were likable and realistic. Such a fun story! I liked it even more than the Lunar Chronicles.
