Story
1992. All across the United States respectable, upstanding citizens are showing up dead. These deaths could be accidents, and they don’t appear to be connected—until a fatal fall from a high-floor window attracts some unexpected attention. That attention comes from the secretary of defense. All of a sudden he wants an interagency task force to investigate. And he wants Jack Reacher as the army’s representative. If Reacher gets a result, great. If not, he’s a convenient fall guy.

Someone is stalking the UCLA Medical Center - a depraved madman who is preying upon the staff, particularly those who are young and female. No stranger to the terrible ravages of senseless violence, E.R. Chief Dr. David Spier must keep the emergency room running smoothly and efficiently, even as his terrified co-workers wonder who will be the next victim. As an Orphan X fan, I decided to try another one of Hurwitz’s books. Of course it was excellent! He kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire novel. And, of course, Scott Brick was an expert orator, as usual. Now on to his Tower of Terror.

Too Political!
Reviewed: 07-22-24
As long as Carl Hiassen makes fun of the opposite political party and their sorry excuse for a president in his next book, I’ll keep reading him. I read this book during an assignation attempt and a candidate dropping out of the race. Interesting timing! Turn about is fair play!

Story
An off-duty Coast Guardsman is fishing with his family when he calls in some suspicious behavior from a nearby boat. It's a snazzy craft, slick and outfitted with extra horsepower, and is zipping along until it slows to pick up a surfaced diver...a diver who was apparently alone, without his own boat, in the middle of the ocean. None of it makes sense unless there's something hinky going on, and his hunch is proved right when all three Guardsmen who come out to investigate are shot and killed.

Ray and Virgil Are Quite a Team!
Reviewed: 08-23-23
This was a fairly interesting “Prey” novel - or should I say double novel? It did, however, seem “long in the tooth” at times. Virgil and Ray, though, teamed up to be great undercover agents! They stole the show, in my opinion.
