This is the second title in the series and I’m really enjoying the series so far! Surprises and interesting primary and secondary characters make for a good mystery.
I really enjoyed having the protagonist in first person pov, but still having an omniscient 3rd person for certain chapters that detailed the storyline outside of the protagonist’s knowledge. Really enjoyed the canine search and rescue aspect, as well. Great narration!

Story
When teenage sisters go missing in the mysterious "Bennington Triangle" of Vermont, an area renowned for its disappearances and strange occurrences over the past 100 years, FBI agent Jack Juarez brings K-9 handler Jamie Flint and her dog Phantom in to assist with the search. When Jack realizes the case shares haunting similarities with the murders of the missing girls' aunts 10 years before, it becomes clear that he and Jamie are dealing with much more than two girls who simply wandered off the beaten path.

Imagine the guy you’ve always wanted just whispered that in your ear. That you have one night to see what you’ve been missing. I’ve had a crush on Emmett Ward for as long as I can remember. And not just because he looks like a Greek god and has the audacity to walk around like he could break your headboard given the chance.

Love Emmett and Adeline!
Reviewed: 10-01-24
I’ve read and reread Sorensen’s Washington Wolves set of series from The Bombshell Effect to The Wilder Family. If you’ve not read all, I believe you’ll love The Crush even more if you at least read The Marriage Effect beforehand.
I loved Emmett and Adeline’s story! They played the long game, and the pay off was fantastic! Emmett is the BEST book boyfriend…so focused on what he wants in all the ways that mean the most. I adored how Emmett wasn’t hung up on material things, and his gifts to Adeline showed he knew her and loved her as she was. The chemistry between the couple was hot, and the sweet moments provided a beautiful balance.
Vocal performances were outstanding! I highly recommend The Crush (and all of Sorensen’s work)!

Pregnant. Homeless. Broke. Not what I’d expected for my senior year in college. Neither was Rush Ramsey. We met the day I went camping and got stranded on the side of a gravel road. I didn’t believe in white knights who freed damsels in distress. Life had taught me that if something bad could happen, it probably would. The only person who would save me was me. But Rush Ramsey rescued me that day. He was sweet and kind and charming. He made a dark, starry night a little less lonely.

Weston Belmont. The man is a shameless flirt. He oozes confidence and masculinity in a way that’s downright distracting. And in bed? He’s addictive. Everything with him is wild and impulsive and I’m desperate to regain some control. But no one has supported me like West does. And no one has ever made me feel as loved as he does either. So, while my brain says settling down with a small-town horse trainer is impossible… my heart says I’m right where I belong.

ES writes stories with MCs I want to root for…strong men and women who are flawed, but persevere. Her love stories are relatable and it’s so easy to get totally lost during reading/listening.
Really loved Wild Eyes…probably more than the first book in this series. The two songs were seamlessly integrated, and both contributed to the story in a meaningful way. Narration was stellar! I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Trust doesn’t come easily when you’ve been running for as long as I have, which is why moving in with a man I barely know is such a bad idea. Shepard Colson is all golden-boy charm and devastating good looks. But I know what it’s like to be taken in by easy smiles and the promise of forever—I have the scars to prove it.

Story
That night we were two perfect strangers, the town’s grumpy recluse and a gorgeous girl in the back of a bar. Until we weren’t. Because Nadia Dalca isn’t just some girl. She’s the girl I can’t have. Fourteen years younger than me and completely off-limits. My plan is to stay away, but the universe keeps pushing us together. It’s like some sort of cosmic joke, to give me a taste of something so electric—so real—something that breathed life back into me. Because I can look, but I can’t touch.

Stefan Dalca is infuriatingly handsome. And annoyingly persistent. We’re supposed to hate each other. But apparently he didn’t get the memo, because he’s been asking me out for years. And I always say no. Until today. Today he has something that I desperately need. Today he’s a savior, and I’m his prize. Our time together starts out as a simple transaction. Three dates. No touching. No telling anyone. And definitely no falling in love.

Stefan Isn’t Who I Thought!

When I read the blurb for The Front Runner, I ALMOST didn’t buy it bc it was Stefan’s story. I couldn’t fathom how he could become a book boyfriend I’d root for. But Silvers did the unfathomable! And I was thrilled when Stefan and Mira found their HEA!
I love the progression of the stories in his series. They really need to be read in order. Silvers ticks off all the boxes for me: likeable main characters, both steamy and sweet, excellent narration, and WONDERFUL epilogues! Her epilogues are truly phenomenal. Highly recommend the series!

Exceptional Contemporary, Second-Chance Romance!
Reviewed: 08-19-24
Elsie Silver quickly became one of my favorite authors when I read her first series, Chestnut Springs. I’ve been thrilled to see more of her work published as audiobooks!
A Photo Finish is such an exceptional love story…Silver really delivers in the second title in the Gold Rush Ranch series. She doesn’t hesitate to tackle tough topics, but does so in a way that doesn’t cause me anxiety…which is a personal issue for me.
Cole deals with crippling PTSD. And having to live at his family’s ranch - even for a short time - hits many of his triggers. One of those triggers is Violet, the groom turned jockey with whom he met in an online forum about 2 years earlier. Violet is younger, confident, and career-focused. But Cole is someone she’s never been able to forget. The way their online interactions ended eroded her confidence as a woman and now she’s faced with seeing Cole daily. As the story progresses, I particularly loved Silver’s portrayal of Cole as a vulnerable hero juxtaposed with Violet, a strong, although flawed, heroine.
Connor Crais and Vanessa Edwin bring Silver’s characters alive. Narration was truly outstanding! I highly recommend A Photo Finish!

Story
How do you define yourself when others have already decided who you are? Six years ago, when Camden Daniels came back from war without his younger brother, no one in the small town of Alba, Colorado, would forgive him - especially his father. He left, swearing never to return. But a desperate message from his father brings it all back. The betrayal. The pain. And the need to go home again. But home is where the one person he still loves is waiting. Willow. The one woman he can never have. Because there are secrets buried in Alba that are best left in the dark.

This small town, second chance, contemporary romance showcases Yarros’ unique style. Her stories have a depth few romance authors attain in their work. She often writes about weighty topics, yet her work isn’t angsty to me. There’s a fluidity in her prose that keeps me spell-bound.
I LOVED Great and Precious Things! Camden and Willow’s journey to their HEA was beautiful! Thought the guy who always caused trouble, Camden’s has left the military to help care for his father who’s suffering from early onset dementia. Willow had been his brother’s girlfriend…until he was killed during combat six years before the story begins. The townspeople exemplify what many view as small-town life…in spite of their meddling ways and the belief many hold that Camden and Willow shouldn’t be together, the town and it’s residents are delightful.
Narration was excellent! I highly recommend!
