Story
Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia to be raised in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. “The best of all the Greeks”—strong, beautiful, and the child of a goddess—Achilles is everything the shamed Patroclus is not. Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals.

I love and hate this narration
Reviewed: 12-24-22
The story is perfect. It's a bit long at some points but this is high fantasy so there's gonna be a lot of world building. I loved the narration With the different voices and accents. But to be honest, I hated when he sang any of the songs. There are many in this book.
I think I would recommend the other narration or reading physical book.

good debut but not complete

The writing is lovely and the atmosphere was done beautifully. However in the end I did not believe the motivations behind the villains to be good enough, it felt really weak. Also the magic system in here is very small and not explained. And the love relationships are a little toxic.

Good prequel to The Scarlet Letter
Reviewed: 10-31-22
This was good but not great.. The flashbacks are confusing, the romance is just fine, the sub plot takes over what should be the main plot in my opinion and the interpretation of Nathaniel Hathorne does not sit right with me. However the writing is lovely. Most people will probably like this more than The Scarlet Letter but I am not one of those.

This was so unexpectedly beautiful.. I loved it more than I ever thought I would. Don't read the reviews, don't even get a hint of what it's about. If you're worried about content, there is a lot of strong language, many possible triggers and it is a closed door romance. Now just freaking listen.
