The narration is exquisite. I wasn't convinced that I would enjoy the narrative device in this novel, but it quickly became one of my favorite listens of the year.

It is hard to imagine a better narrator. His voice for Robin is very natural, not sounding like a man imitating a woman's voice.

As a long-time listener to McRaney's podcast, You Are Not So Smart, I knew McRaney would be clear, careful, and interesting in his presentation of the science. He is among the absolute best science journalists around. This book did not disappoint. He also has such a wonderful speaking voice and compelling delivery.

Katz traces a convoluted history of American empire through the flawed but compelling war biography of Smedley Butler who likely thwarted a more disastrous January 6th. If Americans knew more of this history, we would be better at protecting this fragile, precious democracy.

Firth Godbehere writes an accessible history of how emotion has shaped historical events around the world. I found it both informative and entertaining. I love that the author is the narrator.

If you enjoyed Fantasyland, you will appreciate Andersen's wit and sardonic humor supporting a plethora of fact and argument, but his painstaking, relentless revelations of the plot that has unfolded so successfully in plain sight for the last 40 years will evoke far more rage than amusement. His wit makes the statistics and economic argument digestible.

This is not a book to comfort you but it is one that offers a path to healing. It is a call to see clearly, to reckon with the pain caused by the lies we tell about our history.
