Story
An inn is a place to rest, a place to talk and share stories, a place to find adventure, or a starting ground for quests and legends. It is in this world, at least. To Erin Solstice, an inn seems like a medieval relic from the past. But here she is, running from Goblins and trying to survive in a world full of monsters and magic. She’d be more excited about all of this if everything wasn’t trying to kill her. But an inn is what she’s found, and so that’s what she becomes; an innkeeper, who serves drinks to heroes and monsters. Mostly monsters. But it’s a living, right?

Self absorbed characters that hate everything.
Reviewed: 11-08-24
This series of stories/books has two main characters. Angsty teenage characters who are smarter than anyone else and they know it. The characters also hate other people. Until they need help. Then people are okay. But still stupid. The author apparently has issues with male figures in their life. This comes out quite often. The two main characters are female, but it feels like ithe book was written by a 13 year old boy. The oblivious self absorption, the angst, the mild self harm, nobody understands them, they don’t need people, all alone in whatever world they’re living in, etc. This book doesn’t seem to be aimed at a wide audience, but rather a narrow age range of insecure individuals who hate their parents, friends, adults in general (except certain female adults). Very odd, grating narration left me feeling absolutely no emotion for the two main protagonists. A bad purchase on my part.

Okay, so not necessarily a classic D&D adventure, but funny. The characters are so over the top, you love to hate them. This adventure just screams “first world problems…in D&D land”

Story
High fantasy doesn’t get better than this - revisit the classic Forgotten Realms in this 2nd book of the Finder’s Stone Trilogy by veteran authors Kate Novak and Jeff Grubb. More than a hunk of junk, the Wyvern’s Spur has moldered in a crypt for 15 generations until now. The Wyvernspur family’s powerful heirloom has been stolen, and grand wizard and patriarch Drone Wyvernspur is the first to fall to the ancient item’s curse. The family fool, Giogi, is left to find it, but even recovering the spur cannot guarantee his clan’s safety. Fortunately, the famous halfling bard Olive Ruskettle and a mysterious and talented mage named Cat are willing to help.

Entertaining with some annoyances.

Overall a good D&D based adventure book. Story is easy to follow with only a few moments of “huh?”. The ending did seem a bit rushed. Some annoying inflections (I.e. the constant “, girl!” Sentences). Overall a good 3.5 stars.

Some good, some bad, even a little ugly.

The information in this book is dated. Some of the the websites and products mentioned may no longer be available. There is some good information here , but it is mixed with bad information, too. Sanitary napkins to stop bleeding? Nope, not recommended. Buy gold and silver for currency? Meh, useful in only a few specific scenarios. This might be a good starting point for someone to be prepared, but there are better books. Buy a more general book that discusses planning, and then get excellent books in specific areas like first aid, food storage, etc. that’s my advice and opinion, for what it’s worth.
