Too technical and no story
Reviewed: 01-03-25
I had to stop listening. It was repetitive and technical about the guns, ammo, etc but not a story to it. The name of the author happens to be the name of the lead (?) character. Would have been better for the author to just write about his story

This really “filled in the gaps” for me on the story of Bill Clinton’s impeachment. Totally worth a listen! Very interesting to hear the role key players in politics today played too.

Story
Michael Crichton, creator of Jurassic Park, ER, Twister, and Westworld, had a passion project he’d been pursuing for years, ahead of his untimely passing in 2008. Knowing how special it was, his wife, Sherri Crichton, held back his notes and the partial manuscript until she found the right author to complete it: James Patterson, the world’s most popular storyteller.

The story and plot is just stupid - storing toxic waste in a volcano. The characters are neither rich nor interesting. The plot was boring. This book was a disappointment and waste of time and money.

Story
Cleary, North Carolina, is a sleepy mountain town, the kind of place where criminal activity is usually limited to parking violations. Not so, lately. Four women have disappeared from Cleary over the past two years. And there's always a blue ribbon left near the spot where each of the women was last seen. There are no bodies, no other clues, and no suspicion as to who their abductor might be. And now, another woman has disappeared without a trace.

Over the past 30 years, Weston has assumed many names and countless disguises, enabling him to lure eight wealthy women out of their fortunes before they disappeared without a trace, their families left without answers and the authorities without clues. The only common trait among the victims: a new man in their life who also vanished, leaving behind no evidence of his existence...except for one signature custom.

I LOVED this story. I couldn’t stop listening. I got so much housework and exercise done so I had an excuse (with my family) to listen to it for hours on end! I really wish there was a Book 2 and that Drex could continue his “Criminal Minds” style hunt for serial killers. There are so many plot twists the book is just amazing! A MUST listen to with great narration!

Couldn’t get through it - awful narration
Reviewed: 06-01-24
My husband and I tried to listed to this on a road trip but the narration is awful. The narrator is so bad at male voices they are like a whisper. We’d turn up the sound to hear the guy talk then the girl voice would hurt our ears it was so loud. The story also was not very interesting. We just gave up on it. Save your credit.

Story
One year ago, Isabelle Drake's life changed forever: her toddler son, Mason, was taken out of his crib in the middle of the night while she and her husband were asleep in the next room. With little evidence and few leads for the police to chase, the case quickly went cold. However, Isabelle cannot rest until Mason is returned to her—literally. Except for the occasional catnap or small blackout where she loses track of time, she hasn’t slept in a year. Isabelle's entire existence now revolves around finding him, but she knows she can’t go on this way forever.
