Story
In The Righteous Mind, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt explores the origins of our divisions and points the way forward to mutual understanding. His starting point is moral intuition - the nearly instantaneous perceptions we all have about other people and the things they do. These intuitions feel like self-evident truths, making us righteously certain that those who see things differently are wrong. Haidt shows us how these intuitions differ across cultures, including the cultures of the political left and right.

This book gives you a lot to think about

Forget what you think “righteous” means and what “moral” means. Read this with an open mind. If parts of it put you off or don’t really understand, just keep going. By the time you get to the end, you will be glad you stuck with it. I especially liked the second half, Part 2.

Story
Picture yourself in the Cretaceous period. It’s a sunny afternoon in the Hell Creek of ancient Montana 66 million years ago. A Triceratops horridus ambles along the edge of the forest. In a matter of hours, everything here will be wiped away. Lush verdure will be replaced with fire. Tyrannosaurus rex will be toppled from their throne, along with every other species of non-avian dinosaur no matter their size, diet, or disposition. They just don’t know it yet.

I have never been especially interested in or fascinated by dinosaurs, but this book provides a perspective of life on Earth that kept my attention. The narration is pleasant to listen to.

Story
Over 12,000 helicopters were used in the Vietnam War, which is why it became known as "The Helicopter War". Almost half of the helicopters, 5,086, were lost. This memoir describes first-hand the harrowing experiences of helicopter pilots and crews in combat operations, from the far South to the DMZ, including the infamous Ashau Valley, Hamburger Hill, LZ Airborne, and others. 19 Minutes to Live illustrates the incredible courage and determination of helicopter pilots and crews supporting those heroes that carried a rucksack and a rifle in Vietnam.

An engaging story paired with a very good narrator. The tone, feeling and speed of narration seems perfectly matched to the events that occurred. I was drafted in 1972 so I had some military experience, but no combat. Compared to modern warfare technology, what was available during Vietnam seems antique which makes it all the more amazing to hear this book. I learned a bit more about the war and the history of post WWII Vietnam. I highly recommend this book. If you appreciate the US Military forces, this will increase your appreciation of those who serve, especially in combat.
