I love these books. Audible, please label the chapters with their titles as you have done in other books. That would help in going back to listen or review.
The only problem I have with these books is that I really would like to recommend them to teens because they are so well written & researched but I cannot due to the sexual details. While the author writes tastefully, IMHO, it’s not for young teens.

Story
A modern American classic and a family saga that spans decades, this is the story of the volatile Tom Wingo, his brilliant but troubled twin sister, Savannah, and the complex and damaging family legacy they share. Moving between the sparkling glamour of New York City and the vanishing beauty of the South Carolina low country, The Prince of Tides is Pat Conroy’s masterwork.

So much to think about

To me, I gained insight into how a child or teen might succumb to the calculated unhealthy influence & abuse of an adult. The author did a great job expressing teen Vanessa as well as almost convincing me to feel sorry for JS as he had also convinced Vanessa. That is amazing writing to be able to do that. I had to make myself stop being Vanessa in my head & really see the reality. The excellent narrator also made a huge contribution in conveying Vanessa’s personality, emotion, immaturity & blindness to the situation.
I do wish there could have been more detail & history about JS & as well as what could have made Vanessa be so vulnerable to his manipulation.

Narrator

The book was fine but probably would have been better w/ a different narrator. She has a lovely accent but she had a robotic way of reading, sounding similar to my British Alexa. Her emphasis on certain words frequently was distracting. After a bit, I could ignore it but having listened to 300 audiobooks, she is by far one I would prefer to not listen to.

Many things I liked: the time period greatly appeals to me. The narrator was wonderful & could change her voice convincingly from someone young to someone decades older. Intrigue was more than sufficient. The theme of a lifetime of memories & how those are dealt with in retrospect is nicely conveyed. I wish it could have been much longer. I did not want it to end.

Story
When Edward Cullen and Bella Swan met in Twilight, an iconic love story was born. But until now, fans have heard only Bella's side of the story. At last, listeners can experience Edward's version in the long-awaited companion novel, Midnight Sun. This unforgettable tale as told through Edward's eyes takes on a new and decidedly dark twist. Meeting Bella is both the most unnerving and intriguing event he has experienced in all his years as a vampire.

The Narrator is not best for Edward.
Reviewed: 08-09-20
I like the book, but Jake Abel’s voice was too deep for the Edward I hear in my head when reading Twilight. He does not sound young enough. I will finish the book but it is not enjoyable. I do like the book itself & hearing Edward’s perspective but I am returning it. Please consider changing narrators & I will repurchase it so I may listen to it again & again (as I do for the books I truly love).
