Story
Do multiple versions of ourselves exist in parallel universes living out their lives in different timelines? In this follow-up to his best seller, The Simulation Hypothesis, MIT computer scientist and Silicon Valley game pioneer Rizwan Virk explores these topics from a new lens: that of simulation theory. Bringing his unique trademark style of combining video games, computer science, quantum physics, and computing with lots of philosophy and science fiction, Virk gives us a new way to think about not just our universe, but all possible timelines in the multiverse!

Enjoyed tye insights into many topics covered by the book. Needs a better reader though. Often pauses at the odd times, takes me out of the context of the story.

Story
Where Flynne and her brother, Burton, live, jobs outside the drug business are rare. Fortunately, Burton has his veteran's benefits, for neural damage he suffered from implants during his time in the USMC's elite Haptic Recon force. Then one night Burton has to go out, but there's a job he's supposed to do - a job Flynne didn't know he had. Beta-testing part of a new game, he tells her.

TV Show is way better
Reviewed: 01-10-23
I enjoyed Neuromancer so much when I was a teenager that I have reread it several times.
But this book, I have no idea who is who and where I am most of the time. It is so scattered and disjointed. I feel like I am listening to someone trying to tell me a long story of a dream they had, with every little minor useless detail. They can completely picture what they are describing because they were there, but they just can't seem to recall it in a congruent and logical way. Hopefully someone writes a novelization of the tv show.

Story
Serenity is bound for the planet Kerry with a hold full of sealed unidentified cargo for the planet’s highest-ranking nobleman. The duke is a surprisingly genial man whose court brings all the fanciness and fun of Persephone’s high society but little of the pretension—and, most importantly, he’s got the promise of more work. Obliged to stick around while Inara is with a client—and hoping to score future employment—the crew settles in. The liquor flows freely at court, and there’s food, entertainment, and comfortable lodgings to enjoy.

Story
Using his own experiences, log books, and correspondence with other U-boat crewmen, Hans Goebeler offers rich and personal details about what life was like in the German Navy under Hitler. Since his first and last posting was to U-505, Goebeler's perspective of the crew, commanders, and war patrols paints a vivid and complete portrait unlike any other to come out of the Kriegsmarine. He witnessed it all, from deadly sabotage efforts that almost sunk the boat to the tragic suicide of the only U-boat commander who took his life during World War II.

I really enjoyed the rare account of the actual workings of a WW2 German U-Boot from one of its crew members. I am thankful that there are survivors of that history willing and able to share their story with the world.

The first dozen chapters were pretty good. A worthy follow up to the previous book. By the time the Purple Prince world story began, I started to grow tired of all the extreme exhausting fan references and cliche connections to the past. I ended up forwarding through chapters but the story never really got any better. It's a shame, Will Wheaton did a wonderful job in his narration and portraying all the characters. Hope the future film is better and more interesting.

Story
Experience a bold take on this classic autobiography as it’s performed by Oscar-nominated Laurence Fishburne. In this searing classic autobiography, originally published in 1965, Malcolm X, the Muslim leader, firebrand, and Black empowerment activist, tells the extraordinary story of his life and the growth of the Human Rights movement. His fascinating perspective on the lies and limitations of the American dream and the inherent racism in a society that denies its non-White citizens the opportunity to dream, gives extraordinary insight into the most urgent issues of our own time.

Lawerence Fishburne is an outstanding reader, I often forgot it was him reading rather than Malcolm X himself. Though the film was good, it was no where near the details that this book gives. Almost all of it still applies today.

Story
From the hero whistleblower of the infamous Theranos scam, Thicker than Water is a look at never-before-revealed details behind closed doors at the company, revealing a cautionary tale of corporate bullying, gaslighting, ego, and wealth running amok in Silicon Valley. Tyler Shultz had been in the workforce for less than a year when he emailed Elizabeth Holmes, his employer and the CEO and founder of Theranos, with concerns that the company’s lab practices were faulty, ignored quality control, and were potentially dangerous to patients.

Human Integrity at its best
Reviewed: 08-14-20
I have never heard of Tyler Schultz, his grandfather or of Theranos. I was quite startled by what I was listening too. This made me often fact check or seek more details on the net throughout my listening experience. I love when a book/audiobook does that, it really engages you and helps you immerse into the story. When I watched the 2015 interview with Elizabeth Holmes and Mad Money, I was so impressed with how she came across as the most fictional character you can think of in a story like this, she played the part so perfectly and yet... this was real life, I couldn't believe what I was witnessing. Tyler Schulz really is someone who shows human integrity at its best. Imagine someone like him as a political leader in our current times of 2020.
