Story
Why are Danes the happiest people in the world? The answer, says Meik Wiking, CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen, is hygge. Loosely translated, hygge - pronounced hoo-ga - is a sense of comfort, togetherness, and well-being. "Hygge is about an atmosphere and an experience," Wiking explains. "It is about being with the people we love. A feeling of home. A feeling that we are safe."

This book is wonderful. It not only explains the concept of Hygge in a comprehensive and relatable way, the information (even the more statistical or scientific points) is delivered in a way that is very entertaining and humorous.

I really enjoyed this book, as I have the others in this series. Amanda Flower's series are generally fun, light-hearted reads and this series is my favorite. I love the simple magical element and that it supports rather than becomes the plot. Clever mysteries keep you guessing and follow to a logical conclusion. Overall well written and the narration is wonderful.

Good story

As the first in a series, the was a good start. The plot was well done, and the premise of the garden is intriguing. I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes as the series continues. However, the narration was very difficult to get past. She does a good job with all the other voices but her interpretation of a Nashville accent for the main character is just terrible, especially with certain words. I got past most of it but every time she said "protest " I flinched and nearly stopped the book.

At the height of WWII, five idealistic young Americans receive a mysterious letter from the OSS, asking them if they are willing to fight for their country. The men and women from very different backgrounds - a Texan athlete with German roots, an upper-crust son of a French mother and a wealthy businessman, a dirt-poor Midwestern fly fisherman, an orphaned fashion designer, and a ravishingly beautiful female fencer - all answer the call of duty, but each for a secret reason of his or her own. They bond immediately, in a group code-named Dragonfly.

Gripping, Beautiful Story.

Dragonfly is perfectly written and performed. The grand scale and number of characters to keep up with was daunting in the beginning but rich, intimate details and emotional stories brought even the minor characters into focus. I was completely invested and couldn't stop listening to it. An amazing book, well worth the read.

Daisy is a girl coming of age in LA in the late '60s, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s 20, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things. Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne.

Fascinating and a little sad
Reviewed: 08-26-20
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. It's certainly a glimpse into the world of 70s rock n roll - the process of writing music, becoming the band, the drugs & craziness. But moreover it's a really moving look at why people do the things they do, and what they'll do for people they love. Overall, it's just a beautiful story.

Third Book in Series - very good overall
Reviewed: 07-13-19
The 3rd installment is overall very good, although I thought it moved a little slower getting to any action, not quite as tension filled as the first two. It's definitely worth the read (listen) but the title is misleading, Houdini's role is fairly minor in the plot, and for a story set on an ocean liner, it should have felt much more constricted or claustrophobic.
