Story
I came from the biggest hockey family in the NHL. Records were set by my grandfather, my father, and now my brother. I was taught to love the game, but more than that, I learned early the men you play with are your family. You get on the ice every night and protect them, celebrate the wins, and pick each other up when you fall. So when we lost Benji, I stepped in to help his wife and kids, but this pull I feel when it comes to them is something more than I can even understand.

Loved this book! It's not easy to take some of these subject matters - substance abuse, overdose, best friend's girl - and make it into a compelling story that doesn't overwhelm you with grief. But Natasha does so beautifully. It's a fabulous story with character growth that holds your interest from the first word. Narrators are top notch as usual

Picture this. I’m about to walk down the aisle when the groom decides to drop this news on me—he wants to dial it down to just f-buddies. That’s when my brother’s two pro-hockey playing buddies help me escape seconds before the wedding march begins. But what’s a runaway bride to do with a broken heart and a non-refundable honeymoon? Book an extra ticket and take two off-limits, totally charming, absolutely gorgeous star athletes who want to lift my spirits.

If you liked the first 2 books in this series, you'll love this. I thought it would get repetitive pushing the MFM relationship, but just like any other series it has a completely different storyline that brings them all together. It's fun. She's sweet but sassy and these 2 men are HOT and so loving. A quick listen with fabulous narration

Gigi Graham has exactly three goals: qualify for the women's national hockey team, win Olympic gold, and step out of her famous father's shadow. So far, so good, except for two little things. Fine—a little thing and a big, grumpy thing. She needs to improve her game behind the net, and she needs help from Luke Ryder. Ryder is six-foot five, built, opinionated, rude . . . and sexy as hell. But he's still the enemy.

Welcome back to Briar U! We get to revisit some of the all time favorite characters (Garrett, Hannah, Dean, Logan) and meet the next generation. Garrett and Hannah's daughter Gigi is first up. She's a tenacious hockey player and a dynamic character. The H, Luke Ryder, has many layers and is also a complex person. As usual, Kennedy brings out many emotions with drama and comedy. Their relationship is refreshing. Some fun new characters. I look forward to more from this generation. Narrators were perfection

The first time I met Winter Marks, I almost took her out with my Jeep. To be fair, she came out of nowhere. I flirted with her, and she flipped me off and disappeared into the woods on her bike. But she left me a souvenir: a single hockey skate. Seemed to me that divine intervention shouldn’t be ignored. She was my icy Cinderella, and I would be her Prince Not-So-Charming. Winter was more than just a sassy, badass hockey-playing hottie. She’s stuck in a prison of a life. And I’m the perfect escape. Neither of us expected to fall. Or for the truth to shatter us.

Hockey with benefits. That was what Mara proposed, and I was down. She said no feelings, and she meant it. Just benefits. No strings attached. Nothing else. Not even friendship. College was her escape, including us. I didn't have time for a girlfriend. I had classes, the team, my family, and the game. It was all working too.... Until somewhere down the line, things got messy. Until somehow we were dealing with threats, secrets, rivals, and so much more. Until I began to want her in ways that weren't part of the deal. Our agreement didn't just get checked into the wall, it got obliterated.

Hockey romance perfection
Reviewed: 06-20-23
The hockey part of this hockey romance was not the main focus. But the story is original and writing compelling. Two broken people try hard not to lean on one another but their magnetic pull is strong. And oh how strong they are together. There are a lot of subplots in this book and some triggers (mental illness, child neglect, sexual assault). Each of these heavy topics is told with care and done excellently. Both H/h are strong characters with real flaws. But that is the beauty of them.
Narrators are fabulous as usual. Connor Crais is in a class of his own. Best of the best!

I didn't expect much from this book and was very pleasantly surprised. The H and h characters were realistic and easy to love. They weren't perfect and embraced the flaws of each other. Like many romance novels you have to suspended reality at times but they make it easy.
The secondary characters push the book to 5 stars. There's an obvious fan favorite in Henry but they're all fantastic and could provide an entire series of awesomeness!

Elements of greatness, but falls a bit flat
Reviewed: 01-27-23
I'm conflicted about this book. The premise is very interesting and the writing is very good. But it's hard to suspend disbelief in some areas - like the big plot issue. It's hard to believe this would actually blow up in this way, especially considering Lisa (main character)'s dad is a doctor. But still, holding that back, it is fast paced and interesting. Some of the "twists" are a bit non-sensical and seem thrown in for the sake of extra surprises. I found this book frustrating but also engaging

He was the talented bad boy everyone wanted. I was the irrelevant geek everyone hated. He was the sun...drawing all of us in. I was a black hole...taking up space. He was destined to be a star. I was destined to remain an insignificant no one. Until he made me believe I was special...and then he destroyed me. I never thought I'd see Phoenix Walker again after he broke my heart, but fate had other plans. One tour. Eight weeks. Forty shows. Countless opportunities to make him pay. And a quirky heroine. Love how Tilly didn't care at all who Coen was our that he's famous. He was just Coen.
This entire series is very interesting, with the whole basis starting with the plane crash. It has opened some really difficult and complicated storylines. No one tackles them better than Sawyer Bennett. She's one of the best authors around and corn is maybe the best of the series so far. Can't wait for more!

And the only man who can save her wouldn’t give her a glass of water if she was dying of thirst. Not that she blames him. But she has to try. Sky Kelley isn’t the same man who fell in love with the bewitching genius whose lies nearly cost him his military career. These days he’s a badass commando with lethal moves to match his mad hacking skills. And he’s not inclined to do Bliss any favors.

Secret ex-wife and HOT operator
Reviewed: 07-05-22
HOT Secrets is book #2 for Strike Team 2 by Lynn Raye Harris. I always recommend that you read/listen to the books for Strike Team 1 (9 books), HOT SEAL Team (8 books) and Blacks Bandits (7 books) as well. The only one necessary before this is HOT Angel, strike team 2 book #1. HOT Secrets is a second chance romance, which is hit or miss with me. It is not always my favorite plot, but if done right it can be awesome. This book features Sky of the HOT team and his ex-wife, Bliss. The HOT team was not aware of Bliss or that Sky was married until she storms back into his life. The premise of the story is interesting, with Bliss being a world-class hacker and in danger after a job with the CIA. The job goes awry, obviously and the only person Bliss believes can help her is Sky. Their banter and relationship are witty and fun. Sky and his team help unravel what happened with the job and why Bliss is in danger.
What I loved:
❤ The way Sky and Bliss play off of each other and banter.
❤ Characters from past books making appearances (always my favorite in LRH novels).
What I didn't love:
😐 The couple’s marriage ended because neither listened to one another and made their own conclusions. That’s my least favorite scenario in second chance (or any) romances. It’s so frustrating when the “problem” can be taken care of in a 2 minute conversation.
🎯Overall: Another fun listen from Lynn Raye Harris. The book is fast-paced and an easy listen. Fans of HOT will love it.
