Story
1932: Located on the banks of the Gilead River in Minnesota, Lincoln School is home to hundreds of Native American boys and girls who have been separated from their families. The only two white boys in the school are orphan brothers Odie and Albert, who, under the watchful eyes of the cruel superintendent Mrs. Brickman, are often in trouble for misdeeds both real and imagined. The two boys' best friend is Mose, a mute Native American who is also the strongest kid in school. And they find another ally in Cora Frost, a widowed teacher who is raising her little girl, Emmy, by herself.

It had way too much going on to keep track of. It had some interesting elements but it could have been broken up into about 3 different books and focused on the separate characters more deeply.

At first I didn’t care for the narrator and almost stopped listening but as it went on and I got used to his slow cadence and after awhile it seemed to fit the book very well. The plot kept me guessing and was very exciting, I couldn’t stop listening and finished it in one day!

Too much “bubble-snot crying”!! I had never heard that phrase before and the first time she said it, I found it amusing but after the 6th time I thought, “she needs a better editor and a new phrase”, but after the 10th time she said it I was just sick of this book! It was very self- indulgent and should have stayed in her private journal.
My mom is 90 and I was looking for ideas, suggestions, lists of what to ask my mom before she dies and they only thing I got from this was to record her voice which I have already done. It was all about the author’s feelings.

Story
At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another. But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed....

Paper is one of the simplest and most essential pieces of human technology. For the past two millennia, the ability to produce it in ever more efficient ways has supported the proliferation of literacy, media, religion, education, commerce, and art; it has formed the foundation of civilizations, promoting revolutions and restoring stability.

Wow I’m glad it was free or I would have asked for my money back. About as corny and predictable as a story can get. I’ve had a VW camper for a very long time and traveled all over the US in it. I thought this story might be about some old hippies like me with some amazing stories but it was just a big disappointment.

Story
From the New York Times best-selling authors of America's First Daughter comes the epic story of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton - a revolutionary woman who, like her new nation, struggled to define herself in the wake of war, betrayal, and tragedy. In this haunting, moving, and beautifully written book, Dray and Kamoie used thousands of letters and original sources to tell Eliza's story as it's never been told before - not just as the wronged wife at the center of a political sex scandal but also as a founding mother who shaped an American legacy in her own right.

Seemed like a very fictional story of a saint. The main character was too perfect with no flaws-not very realistic. The narration was excellent.

Story
An American Tragedy is the story of Clyde Griffiths, who spends his life in the desperate pursuit of success. On a deeper, more profound level, it is the masterful portrayal of the society whose values both shape Clyde's ambitions and seal his fate; it is an unsurpassed depiction of the harsh realities of American life and of the dark side of the American dream.

Story
Kirk Douglas is a born storyteller, and in this engrossing memoir, he offers wonderful tales, favorite jokes, and hard-won insights. As he explores the mixed blessings of growing older, he looks back at his youth and his glamorous life in Hollywood. He tells delightful stories of the making of such films as Spartacus and includes anecdotes about such friends as Frank Sinatra, Lauren Bacall, Ronald Reagan, Fred Astaire, John Wayne, and Johnny Cash.

Kirk Douglas is not a comedian and his book should be read by a serious narrator not a comedian. It was horrible and monotonous. I couldn’t finish it and I don’t recommend it.
