Would you listen to Shoggoth's Old Peculiar: A Free Short Story by Neil Gaiman, Plus a Preview of The Ocean at the End of the Lane again? Why?
Oh I'd love to listen to it again. The short is shrouded in mystery to a point where I want to read all of the literature on which it is based then go back again and look for clues to what really happened.
What did you like best about this story?
How it wasn't afraid to be vague, to leave things undefined.
What about Neil Gaiman’s performance did you like?
What didn't I? The accents were spot on, the timing was perfect, and I often forgot that it was just the one person reading it.
If you could take any character from Shoggoth's Old Peculiar: A Free Short Story by Neil Gaiman, Plus a Preview of The Ocean at the End of the Lane out to dinner, who would it be and why?
I'd want to go hang out with the narrator of the Ocean at the End of the Lane. He sounds like an interesting guy.

Story
A middle-aged man returns to his childhood home to attend a funeral. He is drawn to the farm at the end of the road, where, when he was seven, he encountered a most remarkable girl, Lettie Hempstock. Forty years earlier, a man committed suicide in a stolen car at this farm at the end of the road. Like a fuse on a firework, his death lit a touchpaper and resonated in unimaginable ways. The darkness was unleashed, something scary and thoroughly incomprehensible to a little boy. And Lettie - magical, comforting, wise beyond her years - promised to protect him, no matter what.

If you could sum up The Ocean at the End of the Lane in three words, what would they be?
Thrilling, mystical, magical
What other book might you compare The Ocean at the End of the Lane to and why?
Some of its childlike qualities remind me of the Sword in the Stone, where the story focuses on a young protagonist but carries much of the wisdom of an adult.
Which scene was your favorite?
The protagonist's reprieve at the old farm.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Was there one that wasn't?
Any additional comments?
This book is spectacular from beginning to end. There's nothing that can truly express it's magic without listening to it. Give it a try - it's well worth your time.

Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

Someone who can ignore sloppy writing.
What could John Scalzi have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Not tagged "he/she/name said" to the end of EVERY LINE.
What does Wil Wheaton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He has a wonderful reading style, I just couldn't take the repetition in the source material.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I'm partial to Bob, though Michael was surprisingly likeable despite his hard-core Christianity. Points to both the author and the reader for making him such a deep character.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle to be better than the print version?
Yes, if only because Alan Cumming is so wonderful.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle?
The reveal of what ridiculousness had actually happened.
What does Alan Cumming bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Aside from the appropriate accent, I'd have to say a bit more life. Sherlock Holmes, however wonderful the stories are in actuality, tend to read a bit dry for me. Cumming made it so much better.

What did you love best about Storm Front?
The constantly moving story, the characters, and Dresden's wonderfully witty narration.
What other book might you compare Storm Front to and why?
Some years ago I picked up the Anita Blake Vampire novels and fell in love with the witty supernatural person reluctantly working with the cops to deal with the wrongdoers in the world. This book had the same basic theme, though it far surpassed the Anita Blake series in everything from characterization to plot. Also it didn't rapidly descend into porn, which I appreciate.
Which scene was your favorite?
Dresden with his skull and Mr. Mann? The giddiness after he defeated the spider? Visiting Mac at the pub? All of them?
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The book as a whole was good enough for me to finish in less than two days. I haven't had that kind of addiction to a book in YEARS.

Would you try another book from Dirk Maggs and/or the narrators?
Perhaps, depending on the story.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I can't think of any way. This is a beautiful piece of work, I just... didn't love it.
Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Not that I know of, though I thought they all did a wonderful job. This is especially true of the gentleman who voiced the Joker. Those are massive clown-shoes to fill, and he did so wonderfully.
Could you see Batman: Knightfall being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Not really.

What did you love best about The Once and Future King?
The tongue-in-cheek humor that runs through the narration.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Once and Future King?
I was fond of Gawaine's story of his escapades in the crusades.
What about Neville Jason’s performance did you like?
The speaking mannerisms of each important character. He did a wonderful job filling out the colorful dialogue present throughout the book.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It is FAR too long for that, but I do enjoy listening to long stretches of it.
