THIS is the reason why I listen to autobiographies on Audible. There is nothing quite like hearing an author talk about his life. I needed to hear Sebastian's voice to bring this book to its fullest. Loved it!

There are only two paths in life: average and awesome. The average path is easy because all you have to do is nothing. The awesome path is more challenging, because things like fear only bother you when you do work that matters. The good news is Start gives listeners practical, actionable insights to be more awesome, more often.

Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.

I enjoyed the first 2/3 of this book...
Reviewed: 07-11-19
...the last third, not so much. I cringe that the author chose to pin a mental health diagnosis on her father based on her undergraduate studies and published this as such for the world to see. If indeed the behavior described in this book is sue to mental illness, what is to be accomplished by so public a revelation to the one diagnosed?

With all that is going on in the world I almost didn't download this book. I am so glad I did. Furthermore, I am glad I listened to this book rather than read it myself. The multi voice narration was riveting, the soundtrack put me squarely in the middle of the audible movie in my mind. I found myself wishing that Duncan was our president...truly an entertaining book.

This book inspired, encouraged and frightened me. I am amazed at the resourcefulness of the nomads described, their sense of community and courage. At the same time, I am frightened by the prospect of following in their footsteps.
This book should be read by all.

Think Napoleon Hill meets Hip Hop and you've got it. The author has a compelling story of making intentional choices in life and taking responsibility for those choices.
I take to heart his message...kust could have done without the language.

This is not a book to be read and put back on the shelf. This is a book to read and implement significant change in one's life. Packed with personal insight, practical action, and an engaging writing style, I plan on adding this to my top 150 books to read list.
The summary of key points at the end of each chapter make this book an easy reference to return to on a regular basis. I would suggest listening to the audio version and then scheduling time to work through exercises on each chapter.
Just another "home run" by Martin Meadows.
