Story
Your dad’s not a good person. Your dad killed people, son. These are some of the last words Jack Givins’ father spoke to him before he was whisked away by witness protection, leaving Jack and his mother to pick up the shattered pieces of their lives as best they could. Years later, Jack is a grown man with problems of his own. He’s a talented but struggling author, barely scraping by on the royalties from his moderately successful first book. So when the U.S. Marshals approach him with a lucrative opportunity, he’s in no position to turn them down.

This third book did not disappoint me as a reader. What was disappointing were the words at the end “the final adventure of Enzo and Millie”. I guess it had to happen. But I love these two. Great book. Love how she used previous book information that only those of us readers knew what she was inferring. A must read!

Story
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

I don't like this genre of a story but it was highly recommended, okay told to me to read, by my 35 yr old daughter. So glad she is a strong one, this was so, so good. Adventure, intrigue, love, imagination, the works. A definite listen to. Yes, it is 20 hours but it goes by fast. There will be times when I had to sit in my car, listen to another chapter, just to see what is going to happen. So good.

It was okay for me...

The story was a bit drug out for me. I think it could have ended about 3/4 through the story. The narrator didn't help me get through it. I didn't like how she changed her voice with the different characters. It kinda made me laugh instead of pay attention. It was hard to tie the end of the book with the first of the book. I had to go back and re-listen to it just to get the character right. Then I didn't know how it actually tied together. I wasn't interested enough to listen to the beginning again to see how the ending tied back. This book wasn't a favorite of mine, it was okay. Not enough to go find another one of her books.

I think it was my fault for not seeing "paranormal in the description type. I don't typically listen to this type of book. It was good, not great but that is because it isn't my genre. If it is somebody's type, definitely listen to it. You will enjoy it.

A Must Read and A Must Finish

Oh this book! I was so angry with the main character, she is such a mess, makes so many mistakes. I found myself talking to the audible as it was being read. Basically screaming...no, don't do it! I was totally into it. If you read this book, you have to finish it. The ending is worth the frustration I felt with Callie. Ha. Again, totally into it.
It is a great read and you will enjoy it. Get it today.
