Story
As a sci-fi author with a hit TV show, I have a few ideas about what alien invaders are supposed to look like. In my stories, they’re technologically advanced monsters, with tentacles, and no faces. Turns out I was right about the technology. And about how angry they’d be. But the way they look is more terrifying than even I could have imagined. They look exactly like us. Because they are us.

Story
As Dash and his team begin expanding the Forge, they must focus on Dark Metal as the one thing that can give them an advantage in the coming war. Using drones and a map from an ancient library, Dash and Leira must seek out the source of a transmission coming from far away. That source, however, is something far more valuable than they could have hoped: a fleet of ancient Unseen ships, waiting to be salvaged.

Just keeps getting better
Reviewed: 05-08-21
This series is getting better with every volume. Both the storyline which is growing more complex and interesting ant the writing are better with each book. The narrator is doing a great job especially with the contrast between Dash and the AI. If you area fan of Jack Campbell you will probably like this series, too.

Interesting idea if not perfect

Good storyline and fun listening. A few things were just too simple and made the story seem more like a children’s book rather than an adult novel. But overall I’m glad I took the time to listen.

Epic Saga we’ll worth the time
Reviewed: 12-07-19
These stories are a huge drama with a lot of humor and interesting and unique characters that interest and entertain the listener. The protagonist Carl Ramsey is a bit of a low
level criminal and may not please some readers. But he is definitely an interesting character who evolves over the arc of the stories. Probably OK for mature teens and adults. Excellent narration.

Great characters in this very imaginative and strange story just make it very entertaining. I’m hooked on the characters Maurva and Obie and just excited to go get the next book to see what happened. The reading and production are excellent also. A great choice for a sci-fi-fantasy fan. Or just as something different to read (listen to).

Good Military SciFi
Reviewed: 05-02-18
Glory boys is is not a new idea. But, it is very well executed. There are several subtle things like our hero being raised as a pacifist “friend” that make some interesting twists possible. And, while you can see the end coming a mile away... it is not about the destination but about the journey that makes a good story. Not quite Jack Campbell but still a worthwhile book. Read or listen to the audiobook if you like military sci-fi you have a great time.

Leo Graf was just your average highly efficient engineer: mind your own business, fix what's wrong, and move on to the next job. But all that changed on his assignment to the Cay Habitat, where a group of humanoids had been secretly, commercially bioengineered for working in free fall. Could he just stand there and allow the exploitation of hundreds of helpless children merely to enhance the bottom line of a heartless mega-corporation?

At first I thought could not have imagined how you could write a story 42 hours long and hold the readers interested for that long. But, the storyline is so well thought out and the action so driving that the story never lags. More than that, it wrapped up the previous books and all threads are tied off. The characters are honest. No shenanigans to fix poorly thought out plot points. Truly a master at storytelling at work. Well worth every minute I spent with this book.
