Story
In all his years as a professional diver, Will Sturman has never encountered a killing machine more ferocious than the great white shark or as deadly as the piranha. Now, off the coast of California, something is rising from the deep - and multiplying. It is voracious, unstoppable, and migrating north, an ungodly life-form trailed by a gruesome wake of corpses. With the help of the brilliant and beautiful oceanographer Valerie Martell, Will finds himself in a race against time to stop the slaughter by a predator capable of devastating the world’s oceans.

Depressing and unoriginal
Reviewed: 12-08-24
I've enjoyed this author's other work but this one depressed the heck out of me. I did like the suspense and scariness but its so much like Jaws. Some parts related were comical.
What did it for me was getting to know a certain character and even about his family then him getting killed. I know in real life that happens but nope, I don't want to read a book like that. Really ticked me off. I didn't like Will . he was a whiner and drunk. And the female MC got on my nerves. Too bad she didn't get eaten. The other book with her, I think it was her, in it was good.
The narration was wonderful! Kept me listening.

Loved the characters
Reviewed: 12-07-24
I loved this book. Kristen Painter is one of my favorites. It's short and sweet but still great. You can read or listen without having read any of the rest of the series. It would be a lot better if you read some of the other books as that really gets you into the feel of the town. I loved the characters and especially liked Holly and Demetrius. I hope we see more of them in the future. I'm so happy we saw a small scene with Bridget.

Story
Sloane Parker is dreading her birthday. She doesn’t need a reminder she’s getting older, or that she’s feeling indifferent about her own life. Her husband surprises her with a birthday-weekend getaway—not with him, but with Sloane’s longtime best friend, troublemaker extraordinaire Naomi. Sloane anticipates a weekend of wine tastings and cozy robes and strategic avoidance of issues she’d rather not confront, like her husband’s repeated infidelity.

Sort of thirst quenching
Reviewed: 11-24-24
I couldn't wait to read this book. it was interesting and nothing like I've read. It was some good dark humor a lot of the time. Sloane's life was depressing so this seemed a better alternative. But I wasn't crazy about her. I think it was the dialog in her head. If it had been written from all the perspectives I think I would like it better. Her friend was fun but annoying. it all seemed so real. The friends they meet were sort of stereotypical, which added to the humor. I loved them, especially Henry. I really wasn't crazy aboabout the ending. It sort of leaves you to decide a lot. But everyone seemed happy. I think I wish the romance would've been more at the end.
The narration was good. I wasn't crazy about Sloane's voice. it's like she mumbled and whispered so I had to turn the volume wide open. The male accents were to die for and so dreamy. I can't get over how they are all the same narrator.

This would be the best series if not for it being so drawn out. it's like pulling teeth from a chicken to get to the point. On and on the same old thing. Almost kills the spirit of it all!

So touching
Reviewed: 11-12-24
This really touched my heart. I thought it would be about the slave and her love but it's so much more. The whole family and how she touches each. And the lives of each one, including a gladiator. We even see John from back in Jesus's day. The history part is so real and I'm glad I didn't live in Rome in those days. so brutal what they used for entertainment.

They’re looking forward to some fun and great food. Trouble in the Quarter
Reviewed: 11-02-24
There's trouble in the quarter when Jayne and Sin go for a visit with his long time friend. The pet sitter is found dead and someone is blackmailing Sin's friend. Are they related?
I loved this book and wish it never ended. The food of course, was to die for. One villain in the story was so bad to Jayne. I was surprised at the lengths they went to. There was never a dull moment and we even got to see some of Birdie.

Lots of stories going on
Reviewed: 10-27-24
I liked this book. it wasn't my favorite but it kept my attention. There was so much going on that tied in to the whole story. I find a lot of it too far fetched to all happen, especially a lot of the bad things to the same person. And the police that were so bad, that wouldn't have lasted so much in public with the higher ups. And for the love of all that's holy, why can't this author do better with her names?! I took off a star just for the name BoBo alone. That's used so much with dumb characters. And the lady with the name too much like Sookie. I was also surprised there were a few sex scenes. Don't get me wrong, I read books with wild sex. I just don't expect details in mysteries of this caliber. If you took that part out, this would be fitting for any age.
The narration was good but I'm not crazy about the male voices. Not bad enough to distract though.

Interesting characters
Reviewed: 10-26-24
I really enjoyed this. It had some interesting characters. I love the two main characters and wonder what will happen in their personal lives as time goes on. By the end, I sort of guessed who the killer was. I'm not sure why a few of the characters were included because they didn't seem to serve much purpose. I think I wanted one to be more than he was lol.
The narration was good.

Scary adventure
Reviewed: 10-13-24
This was the first time I've listened to an audiobook with dramatization. Not sure I was crazy about it, especially the first few minutes. But after a while I got used to it. I think I prefer just a narrator. But that's just a personal preference. As far as the narrators, they were spectacular. Especially the main one "telling" the story and I also loved the accented lady. I could listen to her all day.
I loved this story! it was so much fun and so scary. a real adventure but one you won't have to be afraid of the dark because you aren't in water while sleeping. The aquarium visits really blended in well with the story.
