Story
In a boarded-up house on a dead-end street at the edge of the wild Washington woods lives a family of three. A teenage girl who isn’t allowed outside, not after last time. A man who drinks alone in front of his TV, trying to ignore the gaps in his memory. And a house cat who loves napping and reading the Bible. An unspeakable secret binds them together, but when a new neighbor moves in next door, what is buried out among the birch trees may come back to haunt them all.

Not worth the 12 hours

I hoped it would get better and sadly, it did not. Total waste of time.

An Absolute MUST READ for all couples!
Reviewed: 03-13-19
Gary Chapman is down to earth, engaging, and has a marvelous narrating voice. He explains his theory of the Five Love Languages in manageable, bite size portions. His use of anecdotal material from his 30 years of marriage counseling are extremely helpful in solidifying the concepts behind each Love Language.
Although based in Christian culture, this book is a worthwhile read to EVERYONE, religious and secular alike! The Christian overtones are subtle and do not detract from the material presented.
Although I feel solid in my relationship with my partner, the I feel the insights from this book will only strengthen our foundation. I highly recommended this book to EVERYONE!

Mundane. Flavorless. Waste. of. TIME!
Reviewed: 03-01-19
There is no plot. The story line drags like an anchor through primordial paste. I hung on, waiting for something...ANYTHING to keep me engaged...I will never get this precious time back! I am dismayed to admit, I listened through, to the predictable end. If you enjoy cliche, bland fiction, narrated by a stale, monotone reader, ENJOY! This book is for you!

The eternal question of nature vs nurture is at the centre of Dr Diane Buckley’s world. A talented freelance forensic psychologist who has never quite found the key to engaging with people on a casual level, she is drafted in to examine a grisly murder – a body found in a children’s playground.
