Reviewed: 11-30-24
IDK what it was about the story, but I haven't been this creeped out since I read The Shining as an 11yo. While home alone abd blow drying my hair in the bathroom, I got creeped out enough to close and lock my bathroom door because I couldn't hear if anything was sneaking up on me. I'm 45. That's how much this story got in my head.

Story
Three months ago, Tansy Bloom quit monster hunting. Since then, she’s been trying to live a normal life (whatever that means), but ending up single, unemployed, and living on a boat outside her godfather’s pub definitely wasn’t part of the plan. So, when Tansy’s ex-husband – fellow monster hunter Rex Barclay – turns up like a bad penny and asks for her help with his latest investigation, Tansy reluctantly agrees. At first, the job appears to be a straightforward monster hunt – following a spate of large creature sightings, Rex believes a werewolf is on the loose in Norfolk.

This story was flippin' AWESOME! It's dark, gruesome and everything I want in a horror novel. This is the 2nd book I've listened to by this author and I can't wait for more. Narrator was clutch too. I have only collected first edition hardbacks from 1 author (long live S.King), but I'm buying a new shelf for this guy. Ebay, here I come!

The visionary writer and director of Get Out, Us, and Nope, and founder of Monkeypaw Productions, curates this groundbreaking anthology of all-new stories of Black horror, exploring not only the terrors of the supernatural but the chilling reality of injustice that haunts our nation. Featuring an introduction by Peele and an all-star roster of beloved writers and new voices, Out There Screaming is a master class in horror, and—like his spine-chilling films—its stories prey on everything we think we know about our world . . . and redefine what it means to be afraid.

2-3 chapters about packing!
Reviewed: 05-04-24
Until now, I have been enjoying this series. Perhaps this book was more about character building, but kid you not, there are close to 3 chapters about packing for a trip. I skipped 2 chapters and they were still packing! Then 2 more chapters about the RVs and bunk arrangements! I feel the author was pressured into chopping this part of the series into 2 books for $$ and needed to fill up the pages. The last 90 minutes were good. If the next book in the series delves into the strife of unpacking and laundry, I'm calling it quits.

The story was great! The virtual voice was almost good. Definitely lacked the nuances of a human voice, but I made it through. I think the book would've been a lot more scarier with a human narrator.

Story
Five years ago, Coburn went to sleep - wasn't exactly planned - and he's just woken up to find most everybody in the world dead. And not cool, interesting dead like him; oh, no. Coburn looks basically human, and these guys...really don't. He likes blood, and they like flesh. He's smart; them, not so much. But they outnumber him by about a million to one, and their clotted blood cannot sustain him.

It took me a few times to start it. I just wasn't feeling it in the beginning. idk if it was just my mind state or the characters seemed a bit shallow. Finally, I stuck with it and it is now in my top 10! Loved it! The characters really bloom throughout the story. I wish there was more!

Story
For the town of Randall, Arizona, the terror starts quietly, oddly - a senile woman in her 80s becomes pregnant. Then the town's beloved minister mysteriously disappears, leaving his church and home hideously defiled by blasphemous obscenities scrawled in blood. Farmers going out to their fields in the morning find their herds of goats slaughtered. Then, as the terror intensifies, the farmers themselves are massacred. The town begins to smell of death, and the trust which has bound neighbors to one another turns to ashes.
