Some people think Hawaii is paradise, but Monk knows that danger, like dirt, lurks everywhere. Look at Helen Gruber, the rich tourist who took a fatal blow from a coconut. The police say it fell from a tree, but Monk suspects otherwise. His assistant Natalie isn't exactly thrilled about Monk's latest investigation. It was bad enough Monk followed her on vacation, and now it looks like the vacation is over.

Story
Charming, engaging, and surprisingly forthright, Michael Caine gives us his insider's view of Hollywood and the story of his brilliant second act. When he was in his late 50s, Michael Caine believed his Hollywood career had come to an end. The scripts being sent his way were worse and worse. Salvation came in the unlikely form of his old friend Jack Nicholson, who convinced him to give acting one more shot. What followed was one of the most radical comebacks in film history.

A fantastic Audiobiography
Reviewed: 03-22-23
Michael Caine's autobiography "The Elephant to Hollywood" is a captivating and insightful journey through the life and career of one of the most iconic actors of our time. The book covers Caine's life from his humble beginnings in poverty-stricken London, through his rise to stardom in the 1960s, to his later years as a respected actor and international celebrity.
One of the most compelling aspects of the book is Caine's candid and honest account of his early life. He writes openly about growing up in the East End of London during World War II and his experiences with poverty and hardship. Caine's father was a fish market porter and his mother worked as a cleaner, and the family struggled to make ends meet. Caine credits his early struggles with giving him the drive and determination to succeed in life.
Caine's rise to stardom in the 1960s is a fascinating story that is told in detail in the book. He describes his early struggles to get work as an actor and his eventual breakthrough in the film "Zulu". He also writes about his experiences working with legendary directors such as Stanley Kubrick and Christopher Nolan, and his collaborations with fellow actors such as Laurence Olivier and Sean Connery.
One of the most memorable chapters of the book is Caine's account of his experiences filming "The Italian Job" in 1969. Caine provides a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film, including the famous Mini Cooper car chase sequence. He also shares anecdotes about his co-stars, including Noel Coward and Benny Hill, and his friendship with John Lennon.
Throughout the book, Caine is refreshingly honest about his personal life. He writes openly about his failed marriages and his struggles with alcoholism. He also discusses his close friendship with actor and comedian Dudley Moore, who was also a close friend and collaborator.
"The Elephant to Hollywood" is a well-written and engaging autobiography that provides a fascinating insight into the life and career of Michael Caine. It is clear that Caine is a gifted storyteller, and he has a knack for bringing his experiences to life on the page. The book is also filled with fascinating anecdotes and insights into the film industry, making it a must-read for anyone interested in cinema or the life of a successful actor. Overall, "The Elephant to Hollywood" is a highly recommended read for anyone looking for an entertaining and informative autobiography. This audiobook feels like an intimate sit down with Michael Caine and he is telling you stories of his life. It is a must read/listen !

How I Slept My Way To The Middle is an audiobook that I have listened to numerous times. I have enjoyed this audiobook so much that I bought the physical hardcover version of the book.
I am a HUGE fan of Kevin Pollak, I’ve been a fan of his ever since I 1st saw his stand up act. I became an even bigger fan when I found out that he had a talk show on YouTube called “ Kevin Pollak’s Chat Show” , I started watching it while recovering from a kidney transplant back in 2012…that was 10 years ago.
Now, this audiobook is special because not only is it like you’re sitting at a table & listening to Mr.Pollak tell the most amazing stories about his career but you also get a front row seat to hearing Mr. Pollak tell the stories while doing the voices of the people he talks about in the book.
Clocking in at an unabridged 8 hours , 4 minutes this book will make you laugh out loud…very loud many, many times. In 2014 this very audiobook was an Audie Award Finalist in the category of humor, and rightly so it was deserved .
This is one of those types of audiobooks that is perfect for a long drive or even a rainy day. There is not enough ways that I can recommend this book. Mr. Pollak covers his humble beginnings as a child and works his way up into what brought him into the world of comedy. Then you also get some amazing behind the scenes stories of working on some iconic films and of Stars and Directors as well.
So , sit back, relax, get comfortable and of course get yourself a snack and a drink and enjoy Kevin Pollak’s How I Slept My Way To The Middle ( Secrets and Stories from Stage,Screen and the Interwebs )

Fawlty Towers premiered on Oct 25th, 1979 and was created by John Cleese. To me this is excellence at its best in comedy. 12 episodes of crazy and insane comedy that only John Cleese can bring. Only 2 series of 6 episodes each, in and out and simply with pure insanity.
This is good for like a 6 hour drive or even a rainy day or just something to listen to as you wind down from a tough day and you need a good laugh. If you are a fan of comedy and laughs , then pick up this excellent audiobook.

The Storyteller : Tales of Life and Music is a fantastic audiobook and book that is written by Dave Grohl and narrated by him as well.
It is not only the life story of Dave Grohl but also little anecdotes about things that have happened along the way to Nirvana and Foo Fighters. If it is a rainy day afternoon this is the perfect audiobook to listen to. It is like having Dave come over and just telling you stories about music and the road and what it is like to embrace being famous and meeting famous folks along the way.
Sometimes, you see someone in music and you wonder, how did they get there, who influenced that person and why did they choose that genre and instrument ?
Listening or reading this book, these questions and many more are answered along the way. It’s a fun book and as I said great for a rainy day or even a long car ride. So if you have a spare 10 hours and change…get this book !
