Story
Handywoman Barb Young has lived in the sleepy coastal town of Bullford Point for over fifty years - and frankly, in that time, not much has happened, unless you count that business where a bush turkey managed to board the ferry a couple of years ago. When Joe Griffiths returns from Sydney after six years of drug addiction, jail and, eventually, rehab, Barb offers him a job, hoping to help him turn his life around. However, when another new resident of Bullford Point is murdered, Joe becomes the prime suspect.

The narration was awful

The narrator is just not my cup of tea. I found it whiny and nasally and for us Aussies it is just plain horrible to listen to. Returned the title because of it.

Don't bother if you are into Margaret Hickey, Chris Hammer, Jane Harper etc
It is a little mystery, a lot cliche, the protagonist is annoying and then the ghosts come into the story.
Unfortunately was too far into it to return.

Yuwonderie's seven founding families have lorded it over their district for a century, growing ever more rich and powerful. But now—in startling circumstances—one of their own is found dead in a ditch and homicide detectives Ivan Lucic and Nell Buchanan are sent to investigate. Could the murder be connected to the execution of the victim's friend thirty years ago—another member of The Seven—or even to the long-forgotten story of a servant girl on the brink of the Great War?
