Nothing truly new to seasoned true crime followers. It does have some eye opening info we haven’t heard of, but over all a good and easy read to the things we know. I would recommend this if you want to lean more about this case.

Regurgitated stories of the past
Reviewed: 03-14-22
If you are looking to be swayed and Or impressed by the content of espionage. Then I highly suggest you look elsewhere. This book brings nothing New to what is happening around the world even from the author‘s point of view. His prism is outdated since 1999. Look elsewhere for a more relevant and new approach on how to run clandestine operations. I would suggest “the spy master of Baghdad” by Margaret Coker.

Armin Scheiderbauer served as an infantry officer with the 252nd Infantry Division, German army, and saw four years of bitter combat on the Eastern Front, being wounded six times. This is an outstanding personal memoir, written with great thoughtfulness and honesty.

But he and his fellow German soldiers will spend winter in a frozen hell - as snow, ice and relentless Soviet assaults reduce the once mighty Sixth Army to a diseased and starving rabble. Breakout at Stalingrad is a stark and terrifying portrait of the horrors of war and a profoundly humane depiction of comradeship in adversity.

The music kills the vibe
Reviewed: 06-05-20
I fully understand the need to make the story come alive but the non-stop piano and violin when a conversation is happening just looses me. I start getting distracted by the non-stop instrumentals. I do love the natural add-on like the wind or gun-fire. Overall, you will be irritated by the over excessive music.

Story
In literature and film, the spy chief is an all-knowing, all-powerful figure who masterfully moves spies into action like pieces on a chessboard. How close to reality is that depiction, and what does it really take to be an effective leader in the world of intelligence? This first volume of Spy Chiefs broadens and deepens our understanding of the role of intelligence leaders in foreign affairs and national security in the US and UK from the early 1940s to the present.
