It's a Stephen King novel. Always a good read. I REALLY don't like the music between chapters, though. Please don't do that anymore. It's always terrible music and it adds no value. It's a book. You're reading a book. Dramatic music has no place here.

Story
Stephen King's first full-length solo novel since Dreamcatcher, the long-awaited From a Buick 8 is "nearly flawless and one terrific entertainment," says Publishers Weekly. A strange car acts as a conduit between our world and some other...and the boogeyman of this creepy story is our collective fascination with deadly things.

Can't get enough Stephen King
Reviewed: 09-28-20
You can't ever go wrong with a Stephen King book. Awesome character development and fun, intriguing story lines. But I've got to say, I really don't like when the book is read by more than one narrator. It's a book. Not a show. Read to me. One person. Please.

This is pretty same-old, same-old, which was disappointing for me bc I thought it was going to include some guided nature imagery or something to take my senses ELSEWHERE, rather than my very stale "here." Definitely don't like the harsh chimey sounds either.

Victoria McQueen has an uncanny knack for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. When she rides her bicycle over the rickety old covered bridge in the woods near her house, she always emerges in the places she needs to be. Vic doesn't tell anyone about her unusual ability, because she knows no one will believe her. She has trouble understanding it herself.

Good book. Intriguing, unique story. Wasn't as creepy/scary as I expected, which was disappointing. But still, it kept me interested enough. Loved the ending, which was not the way I thought it was going.

A whirlwind of fun
Reviewed: 03-14-19
Wishes and Wellingtons is a lovely, touching, exciting story with loveable characters, an intriguing sense of history, fun twists and tons of charm. The narrator is splendid. The story is devine. It's family friendly--I'd say school-age and up. (Tiny tots may find one part a little scary.) We will listen to this one again and again.

Story
All good things must come to an end, Constant Listener, and not even Stephen King can write a story that goes on forever. The tale of Roland Deschain's relentless quest for the Dark Tower has, the author fears, sorely tried the patience of those who have followed it from its earliest chapters. But attend to it a while longer, if it pleases you, for this volume is the last, and often the last things are best.

Story
Leland Gaunt opens a new shop in Castle Rock called Needful Things. Anyone who enters his store finds the object of his or her lifelong dreams and desires: a prized baseball card, a healing amulet. In addition to a token payment, Gaunt requests that each person perform a little "deed", usually a seemingly innocent prank played on someone else from town. These practical jokes cascade out of control, and soon the entire town is doing battle with itself. Only Sheriff Alan Pangborn suspects that Gaunt is behind the population's increasingly violent behavior.

Always leaves me wanting more
Reviewed: 05-14-18
Stephen King is my very favorite author. His characters and stories are gripping. He always leaves me wanting more--from page one through to the end, then right on to another book. I could do without the music and sound effects though. They're literally painful at times and make it difficult to hear the reader for a bit. Audio books are supposed to be just like reading a book. We only need the text, nothing else.

This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

Located off a desolate stretch of Interstate 50, Desperation, Nevada, has few connections with the rest of the world. It is a place, though, where the seams between worlds are thin. And it is a place where several travelers are abducted by Collie Entragian, the maniacal police officer of Desperation. Entragian uses various ploys for the abductions, from an arrest for drug possession to "rescuing" a family from a nonexistent gunman.

As with most Stephen King novels, this trilogy is entirely made up of "can't -put-it-downers." End of Watch is as intriguing as ever and pulls in that touch of the unknown, but possible, that King does so very well. Will Patton is, again, tremendous! I am in love with these characters.
