Like the new take he had on why things tip, it wasn’t a rehash of the first book

The story started out well enough but as soon as the heroine got to Prythian the book came to a crawl. I mean I think you can get the same sentiment and move the story along without getting mired in so much detail. I was at chapter 23(!!) and the story made it to the new wonder of…paint. It makes me sad Maas makes her main character so hard to root for to get past the characters many bad decisions I found myself cheering for her captors just to make it through. As storylines go it’s not very sophisticated; it’s closer to emulating a trashy harlequin romance novel than fantasy. Crass LitRPGs are so much more fun to read than this

I am a bit of a mythology buff and this story was well told, in such a way that filled a lot of the gaps from the ancient story. Frazer Douglas narration was exceptional, hearing the subtle differences in each character made the picture in my mind even more vivid. Will probably listen again back to back, something I rarely do with audiobooks.

Usually with books you end up cheering for the protagonist, but there is so much moral ambiguity of the protagonist it becomes challenging to empathize with her. Some of her realization come off off as rationalizations so that her conclusions may hurt just a bit less. The audiobook speaker does a great job and the book is easy to follow along / finish, hence the 3 stars

Lalla ward's narration is great, Dawkins not so

it would have been better if there was a way to incorporate the footnotes / new edition into the story. having dawkins read was too jarring and most of the time the new editions was there to refute older critiques, or self serving commentary by the author. I definitely preferred the original narroator. still, the overall message the book tried to convey is really good and recommend either getting the older version with just lalla ward and reading the new edition items later.

The story of Richard Feynman is pretty fascinating; it's interesting to hear his inner dialogue and how someone as brilliant as him still has his moments of uncertainty and doubt. But I have to say the way Raymond Todd narrated the book was just fantastic...i found myself with a s*** eating grin as I listened to the audio book on my way to/from work...this book made me look forward to my daily commute! love it.

Greta descriptions of how the “happy neurochemicals” affect our everyday behavior. And also the unhappy chemicals (eg cortisol) and the constant unconscious grappling between the two. The only downside to this book was the performance; the pace is too slow and the reader sounds like a slow robotic voice over. the only way to make it tolerable so that it matches human conversation is to bump it at 1.25 speed. This makes the reader sound even more like Siri But the content is so engaging you get used to it.

I finished the audio book of thinking fast and slow and wanted to understand why these two brilliant men decided to investigate this area. That book describes the clinical way of how our minds work but this describes why the ended up where they did, and the extraordinary friendship it took to get there.
