Story
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

But he certainly does not expect Jake McCloud to answer. It's the late spring of 2020 and Jake's wife, Ursula DeGournsey, is the frontrunner in the upcoming Presidential election. There must be a mistake, Link thinks. How do Mallory and Jake know each other?

Mallory is a sweet character, and maybe that's why I find it so sad that she just had 1 week per summer, and was never allowed to move forward.

Realistic look at addiction. It addresses the symptoms of withdrawl strait forward instead of telling you to just get over them or ignore them.

Bill Clinton's massive ego breaks through in his portrayal of Duncan. Most of the action is passwords being typed in or long winded speeches about politics. There are on a few action moments and even those are dulled by the long winded narrative.

Story
In this striking, enormously affecting novel, Joyce Carol Oates tells the story of two very different yet intimately linked American families. Luther Dunphy is an ardent Evangelical who envisions himself as acting out God's will when he assassinates an abortion provider in his small Ohio town while Augustus Voorhees, the idealistic doctor who is killed, leaves behind a wife and children scarred and embittered by grief.
