Coach Wooden was a man who was truly ahead of his time in so many ways!
He not only was a "great maker of men and young people", he was a visionary and someone who "walked the walk and talk the talk".
They don't come along very often like Coach Wooden.... we can all learn some valuable lessons on life from Coach!

China!!!... They Are For Real!!!
Reviewed: 10-11-11
I have read many books on China and the fact that they are poised to be the next economic superpower in the coming (if not currently) years.
I agree, and unless America gets "it's house in order" soon, we'll be so indebted to China that it won't be the least bit fun for us.
Great book and stayed tuned to China!

Story
Does America's policy toward China make sense? In this vigorous look at China's political evolution and its future, James Mann explores two popular scenarios: a gradual spread of democracy and human rights, or an eventual upheaval. Mann poses a third scenario: What will happen if Chinese capitalism continues to evolve and expand, but the government fails to liberalize? And why should this matter to Americans? Mann explores this possibility and offers a startling vision of our future with China.

Story
Something scary is happening to boys today. From kindergarten to college, they are less resilient and less ambitious than they were a mere 20 years ago. Fully one-third of men ages 22 to 34 are still living at home with their parents, about a 100 percent increase in the past 20 years. Boys nationwide are increasingly dropping out of school; fewer are going to college. Family physician and research psychologist Dr. Leonard Sax presents practical solutions.

Is it really human nature to stab one another in the back in our climb up the corporate ladder? Competitive, selfish behavior is often explained away as instinctive, thanks to evolution and "survival of the fittest", but in fact, humans are equally hard-wired for empathy. Using research from the fields of anthropology, psychology, animal behavior, and neuroscience, Frans de Waal brilliantly argues that humans are group animals.

I thought that Greene's book on the 48 Laws of Power really laid out an easy to follow pathway of understanding how much power we all have and how to best use it to our benefit while at the same time creating mutually beneficial relationships. I don;t know if most people will feel comfortable in implementing a lot of the techniques because it does call for some sacrifice and courage, but it people are willing, they can have so much more power about themselves and find themselves enjoying a more enjoyable life.
Power is not a bad thing if it improves the quality of ones life and the lives of others along the way.
I really enjoyed reading it.

There are few books that really have the ability to take hold of you and say "this is the way to go". Dyer gives such a commanding presentation in his book that can be helpful to anyone who wants to take a few extra steps to make their lives all that much more fulfilling.
Dyer doesn't come across all "preachy" but instead has a "conversation" with his audience in a way that makes you feel that you can do the things necessary to help make you life even better!
A wonderful read and I'd recommend it to everyone!
