Story
Ex-military policeman Jack Reacher is a drifter. He’s just passing through Margrave, Georgia, and in less than an hour, he’s arrested for murder. Not much of a welcome. All Reacher knows is that he didn’t kill anybody. At least not here. Not lately. But he doesn’t stand a chance of convincing anyone. Not in Margrave, Georgia. Not a chance in hell.

Good, Just Not as Expected
Reviewed: 02-29-24
Good story, but the voice talent sounded like he was trying to make the book into some noir detective novel. It took away from the enjoyment. The stoic nature of Reacher from the screen seems non-existent, this was a surprise as well. If I didn't have the preconceptions from two different actors I would have enjoyed this a lot more. Great story.

To a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
Johnny Taylor is an HR hammer and while there is some good wisdom to be found in this book following all it's advice will lead any company into a spiral. The only question is how fast. That said, there are lessons that can be taken as long as you use discernment.

Story
Fresh off his first mission back with the CIA, Court Gentry secures what seems like a cut-and-dried contract job: A group of expats in Paris hires him to kidnap the mistress of Syrian dictator Ahmed Azzam to get intel that could destabilize Azzam's regime. Court delivers Bianca Medina to the rebels, but his job doesn't end there. She soon reveals that she has given birth to a son, the only heir to Azzam's rule - and a potent threat to the Syrian president's powerful wife. Now, to get Bianca's cooperation, Court must bring her son out of Syria alive.

Good Story, Bad Audio
Reviewed: 12-28-23
Enjoyed the story, but the production was so bad as to be distracting. Producer and editor might be better with shorter childrens books. Patched audio segments, bad pronunciation, and inconsistent volume.

Sociopath to Psychopath: A Love Story
Reviewed: 12-07-23
All the nice little tie ins to Hunger Games that were overly convenient but still entertaining. The crux is the awful journey of a boy going from bad to worse with no one but women to spoil, flatter, indulge, and teach him sadism.
The tragedy unravels all too quickly in the last chapters, It’s rush is supposed to be more a reveal but seems very hurried.
Still…I need a shower after this book

Skip This Book and Miss...Nothing

First, the audio narrator was so impressive with his accents that some of them you have to listen to again just to figure out what was said - that's not a good thing. Let's get to the rest...
At some point this first person viewpoint turned into some kind of story telling narration that threw off the vibe of the book. It's as if 3/4 of the way through writing it Sapkowski wanted to be like Patrick Rothfuss - except that Sapkowski actually finishes his books.
He also inserted some kind of woke vibe that seemed forced and hadn't been seen since the short stories. The whole last third of the book just seemed forced, actually I left feeling like I could have skipped this book altogether and not missed anything that couldn't have been handled in a paragraph of exposition in the next book. A good editor could have fixed all of this, but just...didn't.

Love and equality need to be upheld, but this is a sad case of throwing out the baby with the bath water. Whoever got a hold of Earnest really did a number on him. He, like one of the antagonists, is willing to burn down his own world in order to get what he wants - which is pushing "woke" culture. The wonderful writing that spoke to the heart of 80's pop and celebrating "nerd culture" is turned against itself. The references now seem like bad puns, Deus ex Machina situations abound, and in the end it insults those who loved the first book with "Dork Killer" literally the final insult. What was a creative, fun, and nostalgic read has become a pieced together story that is secondary to the preachy condescending tone. Any time you need to put others down to make yourself feel better or normal you've made a mistake, which is a lesson this book tries to teach but fails in practice.

Story
In what is considered one of Heinlein's most hair-raising, thought-provoking, and outrageous adventures, the master of modern science fiction tells the strange story of an even stranger world. It is 21st-century Luna, a harsh penal colony where a revolt is plotted between a bashful computer and a ragtag collection of maverick humans, a revolt that goes beautifully until the inevitable happens. But that's the problem with the inevitable: it always happens.
