Wow. Horrible ending.

Vacuous ending to a scrambled series. This book does not stand alone. I should have read Book 2 over again before jumping into this one. I had to reload it and jump around to find some answers to go forward with this one. This book was a 19 hour disappointment.

Story
My name is Mackenzie Locke, and I'm a loveaholic. I haven't got a handle on men. Not even a little bit. So I staged an intervention and booked me and my two best friends into Love Rehab, complete with a love shaman, horse therapy and a bunch of stones that promise to change my life. I'm not leaving until I'm cured. Lesson one: the first night of your stay, don't have a one-night stand with the hottest guy you've ever seen in your life. Fail.

The poor choice of male narrator
Reviewed: 03-19-24
I finished listening to this because the story was fun, and the female narrator was great. She was great and he was just wrong = 3 stars. The male narrator was almost too hard to listen to. Sooo wimpy. Do not waste a credit.

Story
Little-known author Mark Twain once said that the two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why. He's talking about dreams here, the destiny that calls every living soul to some kind of greatness. What Mr. Twain doesn't say is: A dream is also a monster that wants to eat you. Nobody tells you this part of the American dream - until now. In this new memoir, Congratulations, Who Are You Again, listeners join Harrison Scott Key on his outrageous journey to becoming a great American writer.

Wish the author was reading this audio book. I could hear lines that I KNEW he would present differently. My brain kept trying to translate the sound into Keyenese.

Story
When poet and writer Joy Davidman began writing letters to C. S. Lewis - known as Jack - she was looking for spiritual answers, not love. Love, after all, wasn’t holding together her crumbling marriage. Everything about New Yorker Joy seemed ill-matched for an Oxford professor and the beloved writer of The Chronicles of Narnia, yet their minds bonded over their letters.

Narrator really got in the way.
Reviewed: 11-22-18
I spent most of the time I listened to this book trying to improve the narration in my mind so I could enjoy it. How was this narrator chosen? She doesn’t bring an accent/voice that is appropriate for either Joy or Jack.
Apart from that huge issue, the book is worth reading. The characters are interesting for their strengths and weaknesses, remarkable for their body of work and intriguing for their developing worldview, careers and friendships.

In 1944, British bomber pilot Hugo Langley parachuted from his stricken plane into the verdant fields of German-occupied Tuscany. Badly wounded, he found refuge in a ruined monastery and in the arms of Sofia Bartoli. But the love that kindled between them was shaken by an irreversible betrayal. Nearly 30 years later, Hugo's estranged daughter, Joanna, has returned home to the English countryside to arrange her father's funeral. Among his personal effects is an unopened letter addressed to Sofia. In it is a startling revelation.

Miss Sobey’s narration was distracting. Story was terribly weak, especially at the end. I’m disappointed.
