Possibly BEST of Drizzt novels!!!
Reviewed: 11-02-20
This was, quite possibly, the most powerful and engaging Drizzt novel to date! So many webs! So many turns! Absolutely NEVER knew what was coming next! There were times I was angry, and plenty that brought tears to my eyes. It was like the events of an entire trilogy all wrapped up in one book. If it was the last Drizzt novel, and as a 20 year fan I BEG it wasn’t....well, it would leave room for other authors to develop certain aspects of the ongoing plot.
I am so pleased at the development of Zak’s back story!!!! I love the constant time shifts, allowing the reader to draw parallels to what we know from several years past. I love the insight into what (who) made Drizzt who he is....and that’s more than just one or two characters. Seeing this decades-long developed story from different viewpoints, made it a prequel, sequel, and...well....quel all in one :)

NOT a bad read
Reviewed: 03-17-20
Maybe they’ve gone back and done some editing, but I only noticed 1 or 2 spots in the entire performance that were not fluid. I wish the producers would have informed the narrator of certain names’ pronunciations or the gender of a particular minor character from another novel, but without that important direction, I don’t fault the narrator. Worst thing is that I was so worried about how bad it was supposed to be that I didn’t let myself just listen right away.

High fantasy doesn’t get better than this - revisit the classic Forgotten Realms in this 2nd book of the Finder’s Stone Trilogy by veteran authors Kate Novak and Jeff Grubb. More than a hunk of junk, the Wyvern’s Spur has moldered in a crypt for 15 generations until now. The Wyvernspur family’s powerful heirloom has been stolen, and grand wizard and patriarch Drone Wyvernspur is the first to fall to the ancient item’s curse. The family fool, Giogi, is left to find it, but even recovering the spur cannot guarantee his clan’s safety. Fortunately, the famous halfling bard Olive Ruskettle and a mysterious and talented mage named Cat are willing to help.

Pleasantly Surprised!!

I almost didn’t read this book when I saw Alias and Dragonbait weren’t in it. I’m quite happy I read someone’s review that claimed he read it feeling the same way originally and was quite glad he did. The storyline was excellent. Never gave enough info to allow one to foresee events. You have to read clear through to the end before seeing the resolution of every twist. There are familiar characters and new ones, and some you just can’t decide if you love or hate! The end really gets you thinking!! Can’t wait to read the next one!!!!

The pall that had descended over the North is gone, and a new day has dawned on a victorious Mithral Hall, but no matter how bright things seem on the surface, Drizzt and his companions know that what lurks just under their feet remains steeped in evil and charged with unimaginable power. The dark elves of Menzoberranzan, including the powerful Archmage Gromph, aren't done with Drizzt yet.

very involved!

one of the best, if not the best, Drizzt novels! I am a big fan of Jarlaxle, and always enjoy the many twists upon enigmas that he represents to a reader. Although I could guess at the revelations of a few things, that did not deter me from wanting to hear it played out (as is usually the case for me). I am thrilled at the inclusion of Gromph, as I have longed for back-story on that one for some time, as well as certain individuals known for their hubris being privately mocked by the author in his plotting. A very fast "read" and actually brought me to sobs as well as outright laughter.

Fantastic

Although I had to skip some brutally descriptive torture scenes, I found the storyline quite captivating. It was mostly quite fast-paced and jumped from the plight of one area to the plotting in another to the deception in yet another to the siege...to the ploy...to the revelation...to the plot twist... I also enjoyed that having read not only all the previous novels of Drizzt, but also those of Cadderly and friends and of Jarlaxle and Entreri, gave a bit more insight into the characters and current and upcoming events. I like having the stories converge randomly throughout the series, as it creates a more fleshed-out world as opposed to a simple story in one book.
