I wish the audio quality were more consistent. In all, I like the narrator, but wow you can tell where the edits are and the tone of his voice changes.
The story is more politics and exciting battles than well written military sci-fi, but it is something to listen to between the undying mercenaries series. I never come away from listening to one of these wanting to recommend them to friends, but they make good background noise.

This whole book seems like it is lacking something. I mean, while it wasn't horrible, it was disappointing and felt like it was ending right when it was about to get interesting.

The sequel to the number one Audible Best Seller Earthcore, Mount Fitz Roy continues the tale of Patrick O’Doyle and Bertha Lybrand, who were part of the horror show that occurred far below the mountains of Utah. They learn that the "mother of all motherlodes” discovered there was not unique, that there is another deposit similar to it three miles beneath the towering peak of Cerro Chaltén on the disputed border between Chile and Argentina. O'Doyle, a middle-aged former member of a disgraced black-ops unit, gets his aging team back together to go after this fortune.

Story
Maps have long exerted a special fascination on viewers - both as beautiful works of art and as practical tools to navigate the world. But to those who collect them, the map trade can be a cutthroat business, inhabited by quirky and sometimes disreputable characters in search of a finite number of extremely rare objects.
Once considered a respectable antiquarian map dealer, E. Forbes Smiley spent years doubling as a map thief - until he was finally arrested slipping maps out of books in the Yale University library.

This is a great story but it was obviously recorded in the early days of the narrator's doing Discworld books. If it were being recorded for audible I think they would reject it for audio issues.
I recommend it, but maybe don't wear good quality headphones.

Story
This isn't real life. This isn't even cheese mongering. It's opera - where the music matters, and where an opera house is being terrorised by a man in evening dress with a white mask, lurking in the shadows, occasionally killing people, and, most worryingly, sending little notes, writing maniacal laughter with five exclamation marks. Opera can do that to a man. In such circumstances, life has obviously reached that desperate point where the wrong thing to do has to be the right thing to do.

Seventy years ago, the interstellar supercarrier Ark Royal was the pride of the Royal Navy. But now, her weapons are outdated and her solid-state armour nothing more than a burden on her colossal hull. She floats in permanent orbit near Earth, a dumping ground for the officers and crew the Royal Navy wishes to keep out of the public eye. But when a deadly alien threat appears, the modern starships built by humanity are no match for the powerful alien weapons.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
It's an interesting take on encountering an alien race. Not great writing, not painful either. At least not compared to the narrator.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I guess we won't get an ending until the end of the series.
What aspect of Ralph Lister’s performance would you have changed?
He gets softer at the end of each sentence. Ralph seriously needs to learn how to not sound like he's running out of steam at the close of each statement. I'll have to think twice about purchasing any book with Ralph as the narrator.
Do you think Ark Royal needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Yeah, it's incomplete as it stands.

Every great drink starts with a plant. Sake began with a grain of rice. Scotch emerged from barley. Gin was born from a conifer shrub when medieval physicians boiled juniper berries with wine to treat stomach pain. The Drunken Botanist uncovers the surprising botanical history and fascinating science and chemistry of over 150 plants, flowers, trees, and fruits (and even a few fungi).

Something new is brewing in the 17th century! Fans of the 1632 series have often asked “What's going on in North America?” Herbert Sakalauks has set out to let you know in his short novel The Danish Scheme. Christian IV, King of Denmark, Sir Thomas Roe, the English Ambassador to Christian's court, various elements of the extended Nasi/Abrabanel family have arranged an unusually well-funded and well led expedition to North America.

No idea if this book is any good, narrator sucks.
Reviewed: 03-08-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Better accents, or even no accents. Also, fewer jarring narrator transitions.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
No idea. Not sure if I'm actually going to get to the end. Yup, it's that bad.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Bill Brooks?
George Guidall, Eric Summerer, John Lee, pretty much anyone.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Danish Scheme?
Any scene narrated by Bill Brooks.
Any additional comments?
I can't believe that Audible let this recording be sold through the store, it detracted from the book so much, I have no idea if was any good.
