I did not know much about Ottoman history when I began listening to this book. The presenter was knowledgeable and engaging, and kept my interest throughout. It is a great lecture to start learning about Ottoman history, and provides a great springboard to focus in-depth on the various eras and rulers covered. I always enjoy listening to the Great Courses, and I especially enjoyed this presentation. I highly recommend the lectures and the narrator.

I enjoyed the book, and it whetted my appetite for more information on the subject. Dan Jones narrates, which adds to the pleasure of hearing about this wide-ranging subject. Loved it!

I was not sure what to expect, but it was actually pretty good, certainly good enough to make me want to read more on the subject by Mr. Strieber. I have a print copy of the book, as well, and will be reviewing it to look over some points that I wanted to revisit. Mr. Strieber's reading of the book was heartfelt and you could hear the sincerity in his voice. However, because of that, it made it difficult to focus on the words, at times. A voice actor, with less personal investment, might have been a better choice for the audiobook, but only for that reason. I would definitely recommend it, and will continue to ponder the subjects discussed.

This conversation between Julia Cameron and Natalie Goldberg, was very informative, and it was great to actually hear them discuss writing and their experiences. It is short, but worth the time to listen and learn from them.

Overall, I thought it was a solid entry into the "Fever" series of books, but there was something different about the feel, compared to the books featuring Mac and Barrons. I both listened to and read the book on Kindle, so it was a back and forth. The ending was a bit of a surprise, but I have to say that overall, I was satisfied with it. I would definitely recommend it.

As always, I enjoyed Cherise Sinclair's writing, and the characters were likeable and relatable. However, I had a problem with the narration. It was uneven, and the actor's voice changed throughout for the main character, Atticus, and I could not get past that. I would have enjoyed it more with a different voice actor. I wish I had read the book in print, versus listening to it on audiobook.

I really enjoyed listening to the author reading this book, and felt like I was listening to a talk that she might have given on Fascism at any university. It was very informative and eye-opening, and I would highy recommend it to anyone wanting to understand current events, and how the past leads into the present and on into the future.

Would you consider the audio edition of Seducing the Dragon to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version, so I don't have a comparison. I enjoyed the story, but the language was kind of off-putting to me, which says a lot, since I am not usually squeamish about books with coarser language, but in this case, I prefer something that says the same thing without being quite so crude. The language of Bram's dragon, as well as the guttural tonal qualities were also a bit unpleasant. There were other ways the dragon could have been played, and for that reason alone, after a short while, I found that I didn't like the dragon at all, but I did like Bram.

What other book might you compare Seducing the Dragon to and why?

Maybe Christine Warren's books.

What does Matthew Lloyd Davies bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I like the brogue and the way he reads Bram's parts; just didn't like the dragon voice.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and did.

Any additional comments?

I think the book was sort of "cutsie" and I am not much for cutsie. I think Christine Warren's books are better, if one likes this genre. But for light reading (listening) it was a quick read and ended in the expected fashion.
