I enjoyed listening to this variation although I prefer a more heated exchange between ODC. The story did not become interesting until halfway through. The narrator did not choose a great voice/tone for Lizzy - it was a bit distracting. A few nice twists in this variation.

I love this author. Many of her books are in my library. What I don’t like about this book is its elementary plot and character development. The heroine starts off being cunning and clever and as the story progresses she loses that edge. The choice of narrator isn’t right for this story. There is no sense of ethnic identity in his voice. This may be the right story for readers new to BJ. but if you are an avid romance reader you may want to choose another BJ book. I’m writing this with only an hour left - perhaps Peylor (sp) will display the cunning and wit she began with.

Like several other reviews the story is really good- the issue is the narration. You can hear the age of the male narrator. It’s not a young voice. It took me to a different place. Neither got the cajun or creole dialect right. Ryan could have been the man of everyone’s dream with another narrator- Jacoki we needed you!! Sorry I spelled it name wrong.

Everything about this audible was great- the story, the narration, and the HEA. The characters were great. No wimpy heroine. Loved her strength. Sexy hero who knows his way around the female anatomy. It’s a romance so there aren’t too many surprises. A few good romp!!

This variation had an excellent start and storyline. Darcy in love, Elizabeth attempting to sketch his character. It includes all the miscommunications and misunderstandings that separate them. The problem is the ending. The romance was always a spark and never a flame. Not a satisfying HEA for ODC.

Not a great Darcy

Was disappointed in the Darcy portrayed in this variation. He was Lord and Master of the manor with only a hint of the man who fell in love with Elizabeth and cared for his sister. Wickham was a great adversary. Darcy’s response to his actions were spiteful rather than heroic. Elizabeth’s character was as you would expect but in the end she just a dutiful wife accepting a less than loving and perfect Darcy. This variation started with promise and ended without allowing for a satisfying HEA.

This is simple short story about a man and a woman in a relationship during COVID. The dog and the neighbor add dimension. It entertained me while doing some mindless tasks at work. This is a story about what your single male neighbor was doing when you noticed he had a regular female visitor. Enjoy.

That how I felt listening to these two diametrically opposing views. Both took extreme views on black men and women dating and marriage scenarios. I will admit there is great info in their words but you have to know how to cherry pick it. I appreciate Tyrese’s truth. My takeaway is this book will help women understand how to be with the most desirable (rich, handsome, successful) men. It also provides some insights on the average brother. If you have some experience with men you’ll understand this book better.

I can see why storytelling has its place in black culture. It relates to something we know or heard in life. (Issa - we know these stories!!) I so relate to Awkward Black Girl. It resonates with me - cousin stories, black professionals raising millennials, hair, clothing, black peers, and just being a black woman. I have great appreciation for many young black women and Issa is working her magic! We Bomb As$ (black female) Boomers are taking note and being inspired. Thanks Issa!!!

When the good parts come it’s F@&n Jesus F’n Christ, Holy this, God that. After a while it’s too much and while I can appreciate steamy scenes of love and sex, these expressions cause me to cringe - I suspect anyone with respect for spirituality would cringe too. Surely there are better ways to curse or express sexual pleasure & feelings. Vi is an excellent romantic writer. This one was a bit much. Always love Sebastian and Andi
