Story
The Yellowstone super-eruption has put an end to modern civilization. As cities and countries continue to fall, the colony of Rivendell in the alternate Earth known as Outland looks more and more like the only real hope for humanity. But life in Rivendell isn’t getting any simpler, either. Bill and Kevin continue to discover new worlds; the population continues to rise; winter is approaching; and everyone has their own opinion about how things should be run.

Enjoyable but definitely a middle book
Reviewed: 06-05-23
I’m truly tired of book series. Unfortunately this one fell into middle book territory and it fell hard. But the premise and world building held up and Taylor never fails to get a chuckle out of me so I’m looking forward to book 3. Hopefully it’s the final and since we slugged through this one we get to hit the ground running on the next.

Story
When an experiment to study quantum uncertainty goes spectacularly wrong, physics student Bill Rustad and his friends find that they have accidentally created an inter-dimensional portal. They connect to Outland - an alternate Earth with identical geology, but where humans never evolved. The group races to establish control of the portal before the government, the military, or evildoers can take it away. Then everything changes when the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts in an explosion large enough to destroy civilization and kill half the planet.

Taylor is becoming a favorite
Reviewed: 05-16-23
This is my second book by Taylor and I really enjoy his style. Just enough jokes to keep me laughing. The science is understandable, and the story calls me back but isn’t so intense I need to finish the book in one night.

Story
Celeste Mason is the Pinterest stay-at-home supermom of other mothers’ nightmares. Despite her all-organic, SunButter-loving, free-range kids, her immaculate home, and her volunteering awards, she still has time to relax with a nice glass of pinot at the end of the day. The only thing that ruins it all is her workaholic, career-obsessed neighbor, who makes no secret of what she thinks of Celeste’s life choices every chance she gets.

This was my first Kirsten Hannah novel and I already know she's going to be a forever favorite. The ride of life, love, and friendship was everything I didn't know I wanted. I was reminded of that finally scene between Dawson and Joey "what we have goes beyond friendship" soul mates.

I really enjoyed this book. My only take away is Mia just felt made up. Just too unreal to exist in any world. Every time the story revealed a new quirky fact about her. She became less of a person and this pulled me out of the book a few times.
