From clam chowdahs to oysters on the half-shell, Tulia Peters' Lobstah Shack offers locals and tourists in Westham, Massachusetts, some of Cape Cod's most amazing cuisine. But when the body of Annette DiCicero is discovered in the kitchen's walk-in freezer - with a custom-made claw-handled lobster pick lodged in her neck - spoiled appetites are the least of Tulia's worries.

Great characters , excellent mystery, odd tone.

This is a great “ who dun it” that kept me wondering until the end. The characters are unique and interesting. The one issue I have with this book is the “preachiness” about the homeless situation. The idea that homeless people should be allowed to live in public parks, be served free drinks in “pop up” restaurants and be forgiven for arson is absurd. A kind society would not only feed the underprivileged, but have better solutions for shelter and healthcare. Since Cape Cod is also dependent on tourism, I find the negative view of tourists very odd. I think this part of the storyline could have been eliminated without hurting the plot. We have enough politics in our lives, leave the debates to other genres.

Entertaining

This book was quite entertaining. The characters were well developed, but it is hard to get past the odd British accent of the narrator and the winey American voice of Megan. Hopefully the series will continue possibly with an Irish voice.

Heart Warming
Reviewed: 07-12-20
Jean Grainger is able to string together the hopelessness of the war times with the hope for the future. She re-tells one of thousands of tales where parents sacrifice themself for the lives of their children and the courageous humanity of those who stepped up to save them. As in all her books, Jean's characters are both human and very Irish. You will long for the sequel!
