Story
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Why the hate! This a good book
Reviewed: 12-13-23
First off, I don't know why there is so much hate for the narrator. I've heard way worse voices; she also did a good job! She added details like yawning, laughs, etc. I enjoyed that since it helped me see the characters better in my head.
Second, I dont know why people are hating on the story. Some people have so many high hopes. I personally liked the story a lot! I started this so quickly after the first one. This book has so much going on, but it never seems cluttered. The end has me.... grrr... waiting for the 3rd one!

Tom Felton’s adolescence was anything but ordinary. His early rise to fame in beloved films like The Borrowers catapulted him into the limelight, but nothing could prepare him for what was to come after he landed the iconic role of the Draco Malfoy, the bleached blonde villain of the Harry Potter movies. For the next ten years, he was at the center of a huge pop culture phenomenon and yet, in between filming, he would go back to being a normal teenager trying to fit into a normal school. Speaking with great candor and his signature humor, Tom shares his experience.

I have always adored Tom Felton. I thought he was a fantastic pick for Draco Malfoy. It was very interesting to hear all the behind the scenes of the potter films. That’s why I bought this book honestly but I walked away with a more understand of Tom as a real person! He truly is a good person who had rough patch like so many of us have.

Cute book with a good narration!
Reviewed: 06-25-21
This book would have been a HUGE favorite of mine back in middle/high school. It follows a girl Hallie, who has a secret identity as a book blogger named Kels. She has to go through the ups and downs of trying to navigate being a normal teenager while also trying to be this cool blogger. She moves in with her grandfather aka gramps to this small town while her parents are overseas filming a movie. On her first day, she runs into this guy who... ends up being her #1 BFF online Nash! (I was kind of shocked how early this happened). She freaks out and doesn't tell him who she is... a whole lot of drama, ups, and down plus cupcakes ensue. The narration was great!!! I really enjoyed her voice, it wasn't super whiny like how other narrators do teenage voices.
Overall a cute story... was I able to see what was going to happen about a chapter before it actually happened? Did I really care Nah! That's what makes a YA novel so good to me. I love reliving the awkwardness of my teenage years. It was a good story with actually a lot of heart! I gave it a 4 because, within the book, I took small issues with some parts. Mainly the whole subplot of the author that Hallie loves comes out and says some things that ruffle some feathers. It made me think about the author who shall-not-be-named (you know who I am talking about). And I get it that issue has really shaken the book world (mainly the YA community) up. But I read YA novels to like a said early to relive my teenage year and escape from my boring almost 30-something life. But other than that subplot I really enjoyed the book and would like to see Marisa Kanter write another one!

Good but not good enough for Wil Wheaton to save..
Reviewed: 12-12-20
I am a HUGE fan of Ready Player One... It is probably the most re-listened to book I have on Audible to date. I was so excited about this book ( I had a countdown and everything) but it fell short. I think the only reason why I actually finished it was because of Wil Wheaton. I think he is one of the main reasons why I adore the first book so much. Overall the story felt rushed in some places and dragged on ( That one scene with the prep and the fight... you know what I'm talking about). I wished it had the same spark that the first book had. I mean fans of the first book had to wait almost 10 years for this and honestly it feels like Ernest Cline threw it together in a matter of months... Will I return it? No... will I re-read it? Yes, but I will say it did have some really good parts that made me remember why I do enjoy Ernest Cline's work. It was nice to be back with the characters I fell in love with within the first book... but seeing them a little older... I now question why I like some of them in the first place. Honestly, Wil Wheaton's performance was the only redeeming factor of this book! Is it better than Armada.... to me, yes, but nothing will never live up to the magic of Ready Player One.... I say give the book a try but don't go in with super high hopes.

Power is intoxicating. Like first love, it can leave you breathless. Princess Beatrice was born with it. Princess Samantha was born with less. Some, like Nina Gonzalez, are pulled into it. And a few will claw their way in. Ahem, we're looking at you Daphne Deighton. As America adjusts to the idea of a queen on the throne, Beatrice grapples with everything she lost when she gained the ultimate crown. Samantha is busy living up to her "party princess" persona...and maybe adding a party prince by her side.

I've waited over a year for this book and I will say it was worth the wait. We were thrown back into the lives of these characters right where the first book left off. I will say that some of the characters had some really strong character growth while others fell at the waist side. Overall I was happy with this book. I adored the first one because as a history buff it was a nice change to see what could have been with a twist. I think anyone who has a love for the Royal family would enjoy this book! It did have some super crispy parts but at the same time, I am not their target audience. But overall it was a good book. At some points, it did feel rushed but that is so be expected when you have 4 POVs in one book. I can't wait for the next book to see more from this series! Also, I enjoy Brittany's narration, she makes each character sound just different enough without doing hard to believe voices.

First off this was the first time reading anything from this author, saying that I fell in love with her writing! The way she switches from person to person, with little to no confusion was great! I loved how all the characters were diverse and different in their own ways! I really enjoyed getting a peak behind the curtain on what people would actually be like if we did have a royal family! Which I loved the idea of having an American royal family! It made my love for history happy, along with my romantic stories! I felt so many emotions with this book. From happy to confused to sad to anger, it had it all! I cannot wait to see where she takes this story with! Also love the narrator, she was really good as well. There was not a point where I was tried of listening to her.

I met Jamie Fraser when I was 19 years old. He was tall, redheaded, and, at our first meeting at least, a virgin. I fell in love hard, fast, and completely. He knew how to ride a horse, wield a sword, and stitch a wound. He was, in fact, the perfect man. That he was fictional hardly entered into it.

I am a huge Outlander fan (book and tv show) so I thought I would give this book a go. I finished it but in the end, I returned it. The story was weird, to say the least. The main character was naive and not really likable at all. I thought it was going to be a full-on romantic love story but nope, it was just disappointing, with horrible accents and not so great writing. Did I regret reading it... not really... will I ever read it again no way! It wrapped up in a nice bow with a plot that I saw within the first few chapters... I think I would have liked it more if it had a different narration. I read reviews about it before and I thought "well how bad could it be"... it's bad! Overall it was an okay story with a meh narration... I honestly didn't think it needed to be as long as it was.

I have known about this book for a few years but it’s not in the book genre that I normally read. I ended up watching the 2018 movie first and was like well maybe the book is way better (cause normally the book is better) AND I WAS RIGHT! I listened to about half the book on the first day I got it! It does have some parts where it does get lengthy and wordy (when the Author is listing things) but if you love pop culture, action and awesome characters you will love this book!! I wish there were more books about these characters because I just loved them so much!

Some days, all you need is a message from a stranger. Ruby Santos knew exactly what she was getting herself into when she signed up to write a soldier overseas. The guidelines were simple: one letter or email a week for the length of his or her deployment. Care packages were optional. Been there, done that. She thought she knew what to expect. What she didn't count on was falling in love with the guy.
