Story
When human bones are found beneath an old chapel in the woods, evidence suggests the remains could be linked to the decades-old case of missing teen Annalise Jansen. Homicide detective Jane Munro—pregnant and acutely attuned to the preciousness of life—hopes the grim discovery will finally bring closure to the girl’s family. But for a group of Annalise’s old friends, once dubbed the Shoreview Six by the media, it threatens to expose a terrible pledge made on an autumn night forty-seven years ago.

This is one of the best books I have listened to in a very very long time. Every time I thought I had it figured out there was another twist. This is the first book in a long time that I had to keep listening to figure out what happened. It was captivating and held my attention.

Let me preface by saying I rarely write reviews and I don't always love Reese's book club picks but stumbled across this when trying to find a good use for my monthly credit. I could not get enough and almost devoured it in one sitting.

I rarely leave reviews (although I should that is how I normally base my picks on) and LET ME TELL YOU - this is the best book I have encountered in a very, very long time. I finished it in two days. Bright Young Women gives a voice to the victims. Does not glamorize the Defendent and is extremely well written. Definitely recommend.

I have listened to all of Corrine Michaels books and this is HANDS DOWN one of my favorites. I loved Phoebe and and Asher is swoooon. Zachary Webber is by far my favorite narrator. I liked Desiree but didn’t love her - would have loved another Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber narration to make this perfect. But loved the story ðŸ˜?

Good Addition to This Series
Reviewed: 04-27-23
I have loved this series so far and feel like this was a great addition. I love the appearance from characters in the first three books. I will say this one didn't pull me in quite like the others and I was a little disappointed with the lackluster ending. I felt left wanting or maybe needing more. I hope we get to see more about Detective Nicole's story in the future.

Disappointed
Reviewed: 08-05-22
I have read and listened to all of Mary Burton’s books. This one just fell flat and left so many loose ends. I still don’t understand what some of the characters had to do with the story. I’d maybe give it a 2.5? Also lacked serious character development.

I found this perusing the audible free catalog and this ended up being a great read for me. Ryan and Lydia have lost a child together which was a horrible tragedy for them and their marriage. I'm not a big fan of 'reuniting' stories, but this one worked for me. The suspense definitely roped me in. I've listened to some books lately where I hated the narrator but Marguerite was fantastic and really hooked me in to the story.

I had run out of True Crime Podcasts to listen to, so decided to take a break with a novel and stumbled across this. It normally takes me a week or so to finish an audio book, but yall I finished this in 24 hours! I had to know what happened. While I guessed who dunnit pretty early there's lots of twists and turns and red herrings. I saw HBO Max is doing a series and I cannot wait!
