Since its first show in 2010, The Last Podcast on the Left has barreled headlong into all things horror, as hosts Henry Zebrowski, Ben Kissel, and Marcus Parks cover subjects spanning Jeffrey Dahmer, werewolves, Jonestown, and supernatural phenomena. Deeply researched but with a morbidly humorous bent, the podcast has earned a dedicated and aptly cult-like following for its unique take on all things macabre.

I liked this audio book. It was serious and campy. Granted we are all too fascinated by this monstrous behavior, yet the authors did bring up some interesting facts I had never heard before.

Story
Twenty-one-year-old Vancouver student Elisa Lam was last heard from on January 31, 2013, after she checked into downtown LA's Cecil Hotel - a 600-room building with a nine-decade history of scandal and tragedy. The next day, Elisa vanished. A search of the hotel yielded nothing. More than a week later, complaints by guests of foul-smelling tap water led to a grim discovery: Elisa's nude body floating in a rooftop water tank, in an area extremely difficult to access without setting off alarms.

I thoroughly enjoyed this audio book. It is a real life tragedy and mystery that the author respectfully investigated. The narrator also had a voice that engaged me and kept me wanting to hear more from him.
Although this book was centered on Elisa, It did cover portions of the Hotel Cecil as a potential haunt and/or a 'bad place' whether by artifice or by chance. He left me believing that Elisa succumbed to foul play in a dark and unfortunate location.

John Waters is putting his life on the line. Armed with wit, a pencil-thin mustache, and a cardboard sign that reads "I’m Not Psycho", he hitchhikes across America from Baltimore to San Francisco, braving lonely roads and treacherous drivers. But who should we be more worried about, the delicate film director with genteel manners or the unsuspecting travelers transporting the Pope of Trash?

Story
The man in the pencil-thin mustache, auteur of the transgressive movie classics Pink Flamingos, Polyester, the original Hairspray, Cry-Baby, and A Dirty Shame, is one of the world’s great sophisticates, and in Mr. Know-It-All he serves it up raw: how to fail upward in Hollywood; how to develop musical taste from Nervous Norvus to Maria Callas; how to build a home so ugly and trendy that no one but you would dare live in it; more important, how to tell someone you love them without emotional risk; and yes, how to cheat death itself.

I love Christopher Moore books! He can't possible write enough for me. I do have my favorites (the Dirty Job books and Bloodsucking Fiends) but I enjoy them all.
Noir is a bit different for him, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The ending was good and I really got a kick out of the snake.
When are they going to make a movie out of one of his books? That is the only thing missing. I can imagine Dirty Job as a movie. I think it would be great.

To everyone else it's Dragonscale, a highly contagious, deadly spore that marks its hosts with beautiful black and gold marks across their bodies - before causing them to burst into flames. This was surprisingly good. I am not sure what I expected, but I certainly got more than what I anticipated. It kept me engaged and wanting to keep listening.
The only criticism I can give is that sometimes it seemed he was trying too hard for suspense. Too much suspense just makes me cringe. I did not enjoy some of those moments. And I had higher expectations of his characters at times..
I also don't know why he titled this the Fireman. It was not really about the Fireman. The central character is Harper.
Can't wait for the movie!

Story
In Christopher Moore's ingenious debut novel, we meet one of the most memorably mismatched pairs in the annals of literature. The good-looking one is one-hundred-year-old ex-seminarian and "roads" scholar Travis O'Hearn. The green one is Catch, a demon with a nasty habit of eating most of the people he meets.

Demons, Seniors and Djinn - O My!
Reviewed: 07-11-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Practical Demonkeeping to be better than the print version?
I don't know if it's better, but I certainly enjoyed the audio version. All of Moore's books that I have listened to are so much fun.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Practical Demonkeeping?
I suppose when the demon killed the drug dealer at the beginning of the book. I really wasn't expecting that. I thought he was the main character, but nope - he was gone.
What about Oliver Wyman’s performance did you like?
The narrator was superb. He really knew how to read the book and keep you interested.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Sometimes you need to throw your Catch back.
Any additional comments?
This was just a fun listen - pure entertainment.
